Today the auto update for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 hit. People with Vista who have fully auto updated all updates up to SP1, are going to be getting the auto update.

SL seems to work fine after the update.

There is a noticable performance increase after SP1 is installed.

I find SL is working much better for me now. Higher more constant FPS.

2 machines with vista premium, 2 with XP, 1 2K3 server. Never had a problem with any of them. Well, actually, one of the vista computers was XP and totally fubar so SL would not run on it; but wiping it and going to vista solved all the problems.

Yes, most problems seem to be for those who upgraded to Vista. Those who start new machines with Vista seem to have a lot less problems. Pretty typical. There's really no reason for the average person to upgrade to Vista at all.

As for me, I've had no problems at all with my Vista.

This makes me very happy to hear! I have had less problems with Vista and SL then I did with XP for some reason. Although, lately I have been having major lag spikes something I don't normally have on my machine or experience in SL. Not sure if it is SL or if I am having a DSL issue with my provider since it seems to be happening at work also.

Oh I agree 100%.
No upgrade version. Just get the full blown copy and a clean build. I migrated a few computers from DOS 3.4 to 5.0 and even then the "upgrade" version was buggy as hell. I relied on a clean build and pirated software :P

Vista had more than it's share of problems when it came out. But that was, what, almost 2 years ago? Ancient history in the computer age :)

Never buy the first year model of a car.
Never buy version 1.0 of software.

But vista is no longer 1.0 unless you have refused to patch it. Smooth sailing for me. YMMV

as a point of note, Vista is great, but it does need to be a clean install or a new machine to really shine....
