How to use scripts

I have a bunch of scripts. I can double-click them and play in-world or locally and that's it.

How do you use scripts?

An example: I bought a male walk from Abraminations. It said to drop the object on the floor and add the walk you want. Did that and the object disappeared. When I checked my inventory I have the walk animation but no way to wear it.

If I have understood you correctly, you think an animation is a script? If so, it isn't!

I haven't purchased an animation before, and so I am unsure what they supply with them. Basically you will need to wear some kind of prim object in which the animation is placed, along with a script that executes that animation as a result of inputs from either a menu or keywords.

edit to add: you can only add the script and animation to the prim object when it is rezzed on the floor. Once they are in the contents of the object, you need to pick it up and then click to wear.

What object did you drop on the floor? Did that come with the animation?

I am pretty sure that the object you dropped is still there. It may be invisible, though. If you drop me a LM in-world I'll be glad to have a look.

As for animations, I picked up Ziggy Puff's ZHAO-II ... secondlife://Winged%20Isle/35/83/47 ... and filled it with the animations I wanted. After adding the names to the configuration notecard inside the AO, you're all set.

The animation vendors (like Abranimations) usually sell animations pre-packaged inside an AO, but I always move them to my own. Then I don't have to switch between different objects to wear.

PS: And yes, Animations and Scripts are two completely different animals.

If you press ctrl-alt-T to show transparent objects you should see the AO object to dropped in world (it might be small) if it hasn't been autoreturned to you yet. :)

Then you should be able to edit it, drop your animation in it and edit the notecard within so the AO can use it! (You need to attach or wear the AO for it to function of course, and if you wear or attach anything else in the same spot it'll get knocked off and you might wonder why you are walking funny again.) ;)

If you right click on an animation in your inventory you can choose "play in world" or "play locally" then you'll see yourself performing the animation.
But if you want to replace the default SL walk with your new animation you will need to wear an animation over ride object. You can buy them or make one.
Natalia explains it here:

(Scroll down past the part on how to make the prim shoes and texture them and you'll get to
3. Adding Sexy (or Power) Walk (how to put animation over ride in your shoes - or anything).

Ah, thank you everyone for clearing that up for me. I found a walk I like very much and it's working. Now I know that I can use a prim object, insert animation and script, wear it and I'm off and running.

Appreciate the help very much.
