I have a 1/2 sim island on an estate. This is one of those high-area-low-prim sims where four (or more) sims are run off one server. We don't see very many people there, which is nice. We have virtually no lag, no crashes, no texture loading delays, etc..
However, our scripts run VERY slowly. By our measurements, we are getting 1% or 2% of normal script performance in terms of raw speed. So, in other words, a script process that normally takes, for instance, .1 sec might take as much as a second to run. Needless to say, everything we run takes forever. And some things just refuse to run at all.
The estate people are very sympathetic, but it seems there is little they can do. Our "neighbors" on the server are not members of the same estate. We are at a loss as to what our next step might be. Obviously, someone is taking a lot of cycles of script performance, but we have no way of knowing who it is or how to stop them.
Any suggestions?

sim owner can look at who's using what server resources, particularly scripts.

From: Scott Tureaud sim owner can look at who's using what server resources, particularly scripts. Yup. Have them do a World/Estate/Debug... it will tell who's running what scripts. There might be some biggies out there that are slowing stuff down.

That works on their own estate, of course, but the sims that share the server I'm on are not part of their estate!

What sort of stuff are your scripts doing?
Void sims are designed for very light / limited use, they aren't meant for homes or businesses, but rather for wilderness or open areas.
They aren't just low-prim sims, everything about them is wired for low usage... I wouldn't be surprised if along with 1/8th the prims, they also had 1/8th the script performance of a normal region.
Edited to add - interesting that you're saying the server neighbors are from a different estate, I take it that the server neighbors are not on void sims then? Void sims are 4 regions per CPU and all four of them must be owned by the same owner and should be in the same estate. There are a bunch of rules etc on void sims, explaining how they work, in the knowledge base.
LL has stated that they won't respond to performance issues when void sims are used for business / home / rental land, so there may not be anything you can do, if you're using the region for anything more than parkland.

-Atashi We aren't power users. I took every item with active scripts back to my inventory and there was no impact on script performance. Zero. Interesting note, though, about ownership of void sims. The only reason I think it is not the case here is the information I got from a free gadget by Max Case that supposedly reports which sims share the same server as my sim. Perhaps it isn't accurate!

Sims jump around from server to server when they crash and restart, or if the estate owner restarts them. So there is the potential of sims being on a different server at any time. Mine crashed twice today (I'd like to now why..) so in the space of under 10 hours, it's been on 3 different servers. So a list of who's sharing resources might not be up to date.
Back on topic though - the best I can suggest is ask the estate owner to file a support ticket regarding the script performance. If the void sims are being used as intended, then the lindens should investigate and look into it.
One other thing - you could ask the estate owner to reboot the sim and see if that helps. It probably won't, but you never know.

on a diff note, when i had some weird performance issues, spikelinden came by and said to IM him if it went wacky again, maybe have the estate owner contact him directly so he can actually see the culprit in action
