Can you get mp3 into SL? So far it only lets me download wav. If mp3 is possible would the clip be able to be 4min long?

10 seconds and .wav only unless you stream it in to the land's music URL

I have seen scripts that will play wav files successively, so you could conceivably break up that .mp3 file, that you can upload without violating copyright, into 24 separate .wav which the script will plays seamlessly (supposedly) as one 4-minute audio experience. I have not used the script myself so I cannot say how well they actually work.

Is there a site I can upload mp3 on then that I can put in the music media in the land?

Best option is to get a radio station or two. Otherwise stream it yourself possibly with a second box, second hand machine will do. A DJ might also stream for you at cut rates for extended periods.

Heck, I might be interested in letting people listen in to my play list for some L$ over extended periods.

I took Kidd to mean "[a] file, that you can upload without violating copyright".
