I'm trying to log on to the Beta grid. According to the "help section" If you changed your password, or if you're avi is younger than the snapshot you can not log in to a beta testing area. I'm none of these, yet I still can not get in. In the log in page i hit ctrl shift G get the aditi and type in my password and it will say invalid account or password make sure your cap locks are off.. well they are and STILL nothing. Any adivice?

Have you tried sending a message to lindenlab about it? What do you mean by "younger than the snapshot"?

Osprey Therian suggests that you try selecting a location - Ahern would be a good choice.

Osprey was told the following:

From: someone
NOTE: At the moment, because of a bug, the first time you log in to aditi you have to specify the region you will log in to. Under the Edit menu, select Preferences:General, and choose “show start location on login screen”. Then type the region name “Ahern” into the start location box. After the first time you log in, subsequent logins should be fine

I don't know if that will work but it's worth a try.

I don't know when the login snapshot dates from, but I couldn't pull up your profile just now in People, although it was there in All.

More beta grid gripes
01-15-2010 15:41
The beta grid has been problematic for me for at least a month. For the past 2 weeks I couldn't log in at all (the loading bar would freeze part way). Now I can log in, but the upload menu is grayed out so I can't use the grid for testing textures. Sigh.

The current beta grid snapshot is *ancient* (at least earlier than mid-2009).

You can use the Emerald viewer to test the textures. It allows you to temp upload them, so it costs nothing. While they are temporary, you can test them on whatever it is you're testing. When you're satisfied with a texture, upload it in the normal way as temp textures don't last.

How does one view the temporary textures in Emerald? I tried it and the viewer said the image was uploading - now what?. How do I access those temporary textures? They aren't in my inventory - where are they?

Sorry if this is a repeat thread, but I looked on the Emerald documentation and in this forum and couldn't find the answer.

When I have uploaded temp files, they appear in my inventory in italicized font and are marked "temporary" (check the Recent tab). They also appear in the building tools texture selector.

It sounds like your upload may have failed for some reason. :(

ETA: I just did a test and there was about a minute's delay between the time the "uploading" notice disappeared and the time the temporary texture appeared in my inventory.

Once you've tweaked your textures to how you want them, be sure to upload them properly. They'll continue to be displayed on prims for a while (days, I think) before they disappear. If you put stuff with temp textures on for others to see or buy, you'll be embarrassed when the textures disappear :)
