Okay, all you boffins and genuii out there, how do I go about putting SL on a memory stick? You know, one of those removable memory thingies that people have. I was just thinking how convenient it would be. And kinda Sci-Fi to have "our world" on a memory stick. It must be possible. I just trust some of you know how possible that is. (Maybe that is what all of you are already doing, but just havent told me) Jiggy.

That depends what you're asking. For the most part "our world" won't go on a memory stick because it's not on our computer in the first place.
You could easily put the SL installer file on a memory stick, take it to another computer, install it there (assuming admin rights to do so) and log in. What would be more useful is an executable version of the installed files and the folders that go with it, all set up to run when plugged into another machine. I'm pretty sure this is possible, but it's not something I've ever done. I'd also bear in mind that flash memory and the way it's connected to a computer aren't very fast, and would probably create performance issues.

Haven't installed SL to a flashdrive for ages, but the main problem I remember is that it takes AGES to install to the drive (runs fine afterwards though).

I'd think if you change the name of the .exe file in the batch file (and the folder name) that should do it for Emerald.

If you have a Mac, you can run SL straight from the .dmg, which you can put on a flash drive easily. With a bit of symlink fun ( yay for Unix! ) you can ensure that all of the data created by the app goes to the flash drive as well.

If you use a url tag it just shows the tags and the address in text, but if you use an img tag it inserts a hyperlink. Like so: URL tags -> http://www.google.com/IMG tags ->

Hmm - I may be missing something, but, I recently installed the LL client on a memory stick. It installed quickly and runs fine on a separate netbook that has no SL related files on it that I can see.
Also, I see the IMG url just fine - no red X

Like so: URL tags -> http://www.google.com/IMG tags -> Must be my viewer (current Firefox). On your post I see a hyperlink where you put url tags, nothing where you put the image tags. I use a plug-in called Linkification, which might explain why I see a link with the url tags. If someone puts image tags round an actual image, I see the image. (out of interest, if I quote a post, I see the link text while I'm editing, but not after I post)

For those talking about URLs: I don't see the img tag URLs either. I'm using Firefox on an iMac. I don't even see a red X, it's just blank space.

if you use img tags, the address must end in a common picture format extension... OR contain a "?" (also known as a search character).... if it doesn't already have one, you can tack a ? on the end of any url and it will work (and won't interfere with the link)

To run SL from any location you simply need to copy the Program Files\SecondLife (or other viewer variant) directory to the destination of your choice. It runs from anywhere, a temp directory, flash card, USB stick, portable harddisk, you name it. It still creates some files locally (cache, logs, settings) in your Application Data folder (that is what the mentioned batch file deletes afterwards) on the machine you run it. What will not work are SLURLs as these need to have a specific registry entry that is created during viewer installation.
