Rotating av; suddenly can't see (through wall etc)

I often get into situations where I am moving or rotating the camera, and suddenly the view is on the other side of a wall.

Is there a way to "stop render" of things between the camera position and my av on screen?

or "make transparent" etc?

No. But if you're using a PC, the mouse wheel is your friend: just roll it forward a little and Bob's your uncle.

I know that this isn't really connected with the issue you're describing but Argent Stonecutter made a neat little gadget called the Tiny Cam. The basic idea is to take the viewer camera down to the level of a tiny so the lil fellers can see where they're going. However, it also has a setting for less metrically challenged avs that you might find more comfortable than the default camera position. I use it all the time now. I forget which of his picks it's under but it wasn't hard to find when I went looking for it. Also it's very, very cheap.

Mac and Linux also use mouse wheels.

Also, if you just pause a moment, SL sometimes figures out you are behind a wall, and moves your camera for you.

Right. There are a number of camera HUDs tht have these kind of features.

Move closer to head.
Adjust for really short avatar.
Rotate around AV automagically.
Look down from directly above.
etc etc etc...

Often used by video makers, but useful to all.
