You could try making it a nice place to rent in. Cater to a specific group in SL.

Allocate a 512 for each person but also use some of the land for walkways, a meeting place/swimming pool/park, things like that. So that people have a feeling of somewhere to go other than their own house, somewhere to socialise, and somewhere that adds extra space for no extra rent.

I do see plenty of empty rentals, but I think with a good business model you can still succeed. Same goes for malls I guess but there are so many malls. There are even more homeless avatars.

Sorry to disallusion you but there's already an over abundance of shops and houses to rent, as "apparently" everyone thinks it's the easy way to quit your RL job and get rich from SL. I fell for it and I'm still putting money into SL every month after 2 years of rentals. It breaks even occassionally and just gives me prims to play with otherwise.

You're better learning to make stuff to sell, it's harder work and requires skill, but unless you have some real talent you won't make money doing that either.

In reality the only easy way to make money is scamming other residents.

So Lara, if you "have no talent", how did you put together the sim, er, which has nothing to do with Olivion for copyright purposes, that you mention in another thread? If you can build that you must have pretty good building and scripting skills. Even just getting other people to do it demonstrates management talent - and that can be a saleable skill

Don't "do" anything. Just sit there and study your navel like Pep does.

Do what you *want* to do. In SL it's very unlikely that you'll strike it rich, so if you are going to commit yourself to a project it should be something you are inspired to do that will be fun for you.

Not something that someone else said you should do.

I've seen you ask about starting a cafe (and offered to give you advice on that as someone who's been running a SL cafe for more than a year and half). I've seen you ask about starting a RP area. If these are the things that interest you, just do them.

You seem to have gotten a start on each of them before coming back here and asking for advice on the next thing. What's happening there - are you losing interest in projects that are big and take a lot of patience? That's understandable - not everyone wants to use their SL that way.

If that's the case, you can try using your space as a canvas for yourself - set up a home, a park, an imaginary landscape, whatever strikes your fancy at the moment, changeable on a whim. You may find inspiration strikes then, and the perfect idea of what to "do" in a grander scale takes hold in your head. (That's how my cafe got its start.) At any rate, the most important thing is that you have a good time.

So what sorts of things sound fun to you?

Find something you are passionate about and learn how to make that.

If you don't love what your doing it will be much harder to generate motivation to commit time to.

Follow through is manditory to be able to make money.

Isaac Asimov said: "If you want to be successful, be prolific."

Good Luck! :)
