There is a login message today about the adult changes (finally), pointing to a blog post about how search is changing.

One of the major changes, is search will only return results from regions according to which checkboxes you have active (PG, Mature, and Adult). It's labelled as "PG Content", but actually its implemented as "PG region".

The result of this, is that if you want to advertise to everyone, cause you have a shop that sells a variety of products, then you want to be located on a boundary between regions of different ratings. That way you can have one shop, but have search listings in different ratings.

Let us call this "Boundary Land" or "Multi-Rated Land".

The ideal spot for this would be an estate where PG, Mature, and Adult regions all meet at a corner. Then you can advertise to everyone from one location, that happens to straddle the boundaries.

Any thoughts on this development?

Since the Adult will be off on its own continent, I do not see how that meeting of boundaries is possible.

I don't believe it will make any significant difference.

PG and Mature will be the same thing as far as advertised content is concerned, so virtually everyone will leave those two boxes checked. Unless they are specifically searching for Adult content.

I think that is why she said it would have to happen on an estate. I believe adult regions can border Mature regions there.

It's an interesting loophole, though, that you can have your adult merchandise still 'under the same roof' as the PG/Mature items, just positioned across a sim border. Will non-verified accounts be able to see into adult regions? Will we be able to cam and buy across sim borders as we can now?

I knew there was speculation on this, but did not know that it was definitely going to be possible.

Oops, I jumped the gun then. I hadn't heard they had to be separated physically, but I admit I don't know that for sure. I can't keep up. :o

Yes, non-verified accounts can cam across sim borders into Adult regions. Whether or not that can buy items in Adult regions I'm not sure. I suspect not.

In the Oatmeal 15 (or whatever the Adult test region is) there was a sign telling residents to touch it for information on the Adult Content policy. Unverified residents in the neighboring Mature region could not see it, but not touch it.

Thanks for the info. :)
