Scammers

Hi sorry i didnt know where else to put this ive tried contacting Linden labs but they pretty much disabled every way of contacting them & im deeply upset what some people can do to another i must get around 3 or 4 people per month who have been scammed by "some1" but because im the creator of a slotmachine i made when Gambling was allowed in Secondlife they assume its me. Its really annoying because not only do i have to tell them it wasnt me that have just scammed them but i have to try and tell them to go to account history to see who did & that they wont hear from there money again. Heres a little message i wrote to Linden labs if they ever find the time to read & answer it.



i created a Slotmachine before Secondlife Gambling was banned and in that time i sold it full permissions but now i get Contacted by people who have been scammed by other people who have edited the machine i made & taken money off them and i get the blame because my name is the creator, is there anyway of deleting all the Slotmachines i made? or if not is there anyway of finding out who is scamming these people because i would hate to get accused of something like this and getting banned.

Gambling was banned? You wouldn't know if from traveling the grid. Just why is Zyngo privileged?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The likelihood of someone ARing you for being duped while in engaged in a prohibited activity is similar to the likelihood of someone filing a complaint against a hooker for giving them a venereal disease, still I suppose stranger things have been known to happen.

You can always disavow the product and go on record with Linden Lab about it and let them know what is going on with it and your concerns.

You may want to put a disclaimer in your profile, at least temporarily. Something along the lines of:

"If you see my name on an object as the owner, this only means I created it long ago. I do not have any influence on what the owner is doing to the code. If you have a problem with an object where I am the creator, I cannot help you. Please always contact the owner or the name listed in your transaction history if whatever happened is related to a L$ transaction."

ok i will do that, thanks for the replys its just annoying that some people think that just because im the creator that i took there money or i owe them the money just because im the creator.

Well, he's on record then and also may reply to rants with a short "You're barking up the wrong tree. Please read my profile".

Hi Swift - this should be very easy to resolve and to get it fixed quickly, the best way is to make it easy for LL to take the action you want. The fastest way would be to give LL the UUID of every component in your build, and ask them to delete it (i.e. any scripts that show you as the creator, and possibly the build itself) from the asset database.

Hi, i jsut received a ticket response from Linden labs & all they said was ask them to report the person who scammed them, they also said they couldnt do much about the Object that is causing the problem so all i can do is explain to the people who IM me that all they can do is report. ive just had Ims also from a guy who has been scammed just now & hes french which is hard because im English so he has gotten 2 of his freinds to IM me so this is wot i have to put up with, people iming freinds to accuse me & report me. i also put in Picks explaining about the situation but there not reading it.

Swift, I would suggest you write your reply message in a notecard so that when someone IMs you, you have it ready to copy and paste or drop in their inventory. Beyond that, the "mute" is going to be your only ally. You do not need to engage in protracted arguments with any of these people. Explain in your message that although you are listed the object creator, you are not the one who received their money and they need to direct their complaints and ARs at the object owner. That is all the discussion you need have with anyone, and you need not feel bad about muting them if they continue to pester you or become abusive.

*nods* Sucky customers never read. Ever. Reading means they "know" the rules/policy and that the rules/policies will prevent them from getting what they want.
