I inadvertently donned a bald wig. Can anyone tell me how to remove it. I want my hair back.

Go to your inventory, in the search line type the word worn.
This will show you everything you are wearing. You can find it and detach it from yourself

Hair skin and shape are all similar in that you do not just take them off. You have to wear another hair to change it.
Just wear the hair you want and it will replace the "bald wig".
Or, you could just go into edit appearance and adjust the sliders to give yourself hair again.

Melissa is right. You have to wear another version of hair or edit the one you have on now. You can not "take off" your hair. If you could there would be no need for bald wigs. |

Huh? I thought hair was prim. Same as the bald cap that comes with it in the folders. I detach my hair all the time and walk around with my bald skin head.

There are two types of hair in SL - hair made from prims and non-prim hair. The non-prim variety you can create by going into Appearance mode and selecting "hair" and adjusting the sliders. This is the original way avatar hair was created, before anyone thought of making it from prims and attaching the resulting "wig" to the avatar head. The "bald cap" is actually non-prim hair with all the sliders set to zero - i.e, no hair at all. You need this setting underneath prim hair, otherwise any non-prim hair will show through the prims. Your avatar always has to "wear" non-prim hair of some sort - even if it is a bald cap variety. It is more like shape and skin in this sense - you have to have it to make an avatar. You can't take non-prim hair off per se and you simply just change it by wearing another non-prim hair, similar to the way you can change shape or skin. Prim hair, because it is worn as an avatar attachment, you can wear and take off.
