okay, im not sure if i should post an error here because LL seems really uptight about basic members only using the Knowledge base for their tech support. This is my first post on the SL forums even though ive been a SL resident for a year now, bear with me i am going to post my question here so maybe someone will be able to help me. I cannot send my question into linden labs because im just a basic member and no offense to the "knowledge base" but a homeless man could give me better technical advice. Whenever i try to log into second life it loads up to "connecting with region" and then crashes. its not the regions fault because this has been happening for three weeks now. i have not been able to log in for three weeks because of this extremely annoying error. i tried updating SL to the current version and it didnt fix the problem. ive tried completely uninstalling SL and reinstalling it but this did not fix the problem either. if check my internet connections and there is no problem there. So to really summerize, again, it just loads to "connecting with Region" and then crashes to my desktop. After Knowledge base provided no answers ive just been toying with the settings and preferences no luck i would really appreciate anyone giving me advice that could help me in solving this problem so i can get back to enjoying Second Life

From what I've seen video card drivers are the most common culprit in this.
Please post your system specs and also make sure your drivers are up to date.
oh - and welcome to the forum.

Ok, if all drivers are up to date, it *should* be working. How often do you scan for malware? Often when I found I couldn't get in, some bug was using the memory SL wanted to use.

Have you tried logging in from someone else's computer?
If you can take your computer over to someone else's house and try to log in from there that gives very useful diagnostic info.
Likewise if you can get someone else's computer over to your house to test that give useful info.
Have you turned your computer, modem, router, and other components off and let them sit for a minute and turned them back on?
The more information you provide about your system the easier it is to figure out what the problem might be.

From: Alac Cortes i did a scan with my Norton Anti Virus Scanner a few times and it detected no viruses I don't know if this is relevant in your case, but Norton has been known to cause some problems with SL.

kk, if you havn't already go to secondlife, pcom support page follow links to ati radeon for updated video card drivers, make sure update soundblaster, direct x, quicktime. Make sure you don't have multiple firewalls. De-fragging the hard drive helpful as well.*(if the first time be prepared for it to take a while) run a registry cleaner several free ones available (we use eusing its free ) You might try Trend Micro online virus scanner and spybot to rid of data miners and or viruses. if two or more puters on same system be sure to have differents ports for each, port can be enterred in the netwoek tab of preferences; 13001 and above good ports to use. be sure to clear cache on network tab before each log in, clear temp internet files & cookies as well. What kind Internet connection do you have? and your disk cache max it to the 1000 allowable. Make sl trusted site in modem, firewalls, and or virus protection used. sure a few other things but this is a good start. GL
