Class 5s can support about twice as many avatars for the same amount of lag, and can run scripts *very* much faster. Island sims, though, are charged US$295/month for Class 5s, and "only" US$195/mo for Class 4s.
What any of this means for the future, though, is anyone's guess. Whether the "grandfathered" price differential will be maintained next time LL rejiggers pricing is unknown. At one point, LL talked about charging for Voice on Class 4 sims, but I'm pretty sure they now realize that the market for this describes the null set. With Havoc 4, nobody really knows if the performance differential will increase or decrease. And someday, the Class 4s will be retired; will they get shiny new Class 6 machines by that time, leaving the Class 5s in the dust? I don't think anybody knows, or if they do, I haven't heard them talking.
