Seems that there is a HUGE Sim sell off. I see more sims being sold in forums than smaller parcels. I talked to a few sim owners that won't rent off anything less than 1/2 sim. I guess LL doesn't realize the private island sim is not as good of an investment as they use to be.

For LL its the same money, no matter who owns it or how many parcels it is. Only difference parcels and such make are on the sim owner really, since they then pay LL the same tier and base price, no matter how much they've rented out

There are indeed lots of people selling sims these days (and lots of people buying them).

This is not intended to be rude, but why would you use that subject line for this or any thread? It's a perfectly worthwhile topic you brought up, and hardly anyone will look at it.
There are also other recent threads where we've discussed some of the current trends and ongoing pitfalls of estate ownership. I don't mind repeating myself, but not under a thread title that could be about anything from VAT to prim cocks. |

As a former vBulletin software owner, I know that if you just put your mouse over the title for a couple of seconds and it gives you the first line of the first post, so you can see what its about before clicking on it. Nice feature, huh? "This is not intended to be rude". Ok, on a serious note, I haven't seen this many full sims being sold on the secondary market since I started SL a year ago. It's not like people trying to turn a profit. It's more of them getting out all together. Even the ones who are not selling, they trying to rent half and full sims instead of smaller residential parcels. |

Sims aren't investments, really.
Unless your time isn't worth anything at all. If your time is worth something, you'll need maybe 40-50 regions to sorta justify it. Just a perspective from someone who has been into this for a while. And yeah, I know, I have less regions than I say would justify the effort financially. _____________________

They are only "worth it" if you are flipping them for a decent profit, which is something that isn't really to be had, lately.

Seems like they are now geared more toward corporations and getting away from residentials. |

And you are on the forums, Ike. You have time to type in an informative thread title.
