In the blog:

What do you think of ebay's involvement? I'm quite excited about this. Surely we'll all be able to auction our parcels via this method eventually, won't we?

Unless I am missing something, there is not a lot to get excited about short-term. They are just farming out a very similar system to a third party.

I guess it will be more exciting when I can auction off my freebie red BMW in the system.

Well using ebay technology suggests to me that there could be a big auction house for basically everything eventually.

Yes. That would be cool.

However, some of us in the land biz were hoping for a bit more than just a different supplier doing the same style auctions.

I'll bet the folks who just got sims for $1300 are liking this two week hiatus and the increased demand and prices it's going to cause...

Well land prices were showing signs of sneaking up yesterday. I saw a plot on the map that was for sale for L$54,000 on the map, to arrive and find it had changed to L$59,000.

Hope springs eternal. There are still over 500 sims worth of land for sale, so I have a feeling that land is going to sit for a while despite the optimistic price hike. The base price of mainland is moving up, but very, very slowly. My guess is the base with be L$6.5 a meter by the time the new auctions start dropping on the 19th.

Did the seller change?

Being able to auction your own parcels would be great! On another note though, if people aren't really buying while the price is low, why the excitment if the prices go higher? Will 2 weeks really make alot of difference? Enquiring minds want to know! :D

Very interesting indeed.

Second Life might even turn this new auction system into a leading virtual auction site.

Imagine if we could put all the Second List related items like our land, products, L$ on the auction list and Linden charge a listing fee just like ebay.

Next could be the Linden Payment System just like Paypal and Google Checkout.
