I know that some folks here have mentioned that AVs have no innerds and that's why they can eat so much pie. Well that also is apparently why my necklace went completely inside my stomach when I put it on.

Now the question is -- how do I get it selected for repositioning, or can I? What actually decides where a prim is going to attach when you 'wear' it?

The size of the model the prim was made on, that's what. Being a thicker avatar than most women, I often have to resize prim attachments. Jewelry, especially the arm bands and bracelets. I had a devil of a time getting at my belly rings that suddenly became subcutaneous. I had to resize my shape and take down body thickness and body fat to get it. Try that. If that doesn't work, move your camera inside your avatar, and grab it that way.

Got it - after taking body thickness and fat both to zero (that model must of been a waif). The model was also really short because this was a necklace that was sitting where belly button jewelry would go on me, and my AV is only about 5'7" (my real height). Or it was just something really badly designed -- was a lucky chair freebie item.

BTW - while it sounds a bit wierd to take the camera inside the AV, how do you get it done? I tried zooming in and spinning it every which way but couldn't ever get it to actually go inside.

Use camera controls under the view menu and move the camera manually without it spinning around your body. It would take a little spinning and then panning inside.

Yeah the first time I bought a belly ring and put it on, I was totally mystified until I anorexized myself and found the ring "inside" where my normal belly is. Sheesh.

it sounds like its in the default slot or something :)

which means its somehwere near your butt. I hope that helps lol just join the thousands of sl users who have many items stuck up their butts from time to time and now you are part of the in crowd :)

if you cant find it take it off and rez it on the ground and enlarge it and from the gruond click attach and see where it attaches to. Sounds like if it was properly fitted it kinda became "unfitted" or they didn't bother to fit it at all :)

It seems like a weird place for it to attach, though. I've had to resize a lot of stuff, but it has always attached in the general area of where it's supposed to go, it just has been the wrong size. Belly rings disappearing inside the belly make sense, but a neclace attaching that far down doesn't seem right.

Belly rings are conventionally sized to size 0 bodies, I have no clue why. Someone else in the forums mentioned this trick which is quicker than zeroing your bod:

Attach it to your nose. It will appear slightly in front of your face. Drag it a lot farther out from your body, detach, and then attach it to your stomach and drag it back into place.

Oh and also with respect to your necklace, do check and see if it is actually now attached to your chest. What may have happened is that someone attached it at some point to an unusual spot ... say, the spine ... in order to keep it from conflicting with a set of silks or a collar.
