Hello all,
just a few questions.first my avatar has a hostessing job that pays in tips but im getting bored with this job and i was thinking to myself last night that id like a job as a sales lady.Like helping people pick out skins for there avatars.I have no idea where to look tho. And lets say my avatar is new but iv had other accounts before would i still have to be 30 days old before i get a job?
My dream is to own a piece of land with a house now my question is what the heck are prims i think i kinda know but i though id ask anyways. If i do buy a piece of land do i still have to pay a fee every month or whatever to keep the land? or is that just for renting

Always keep an eye on the help wanted forum for jobs.
Prims, well every object is made up of x amount of prims, these are limits to us all. How much land you want is an important issue, and for that answer you need to know how many prims you want. It's very easy to fill up a 512M parcel.
I'm a landlord but I honestly think people should rent land before they buy, purely to see if it's what they want and to get their head around prim limits. Renting can often be done on a weekly basis so there's no big commitment.

From: Ryuni Helstein Hmm ok thank you you have been a big help! Oh actually, find a sandbox and start rezzing the content you want for a piece of land, that will also give you an idea of how many prims you may need. If you right mouse click on object and click "edit" it will tell you how many prims that object contains.

Your knowledge of how this platform operates makes you more eligible for better paying jobs. You need to take some free classes and educate yourself.
TO FIND A CLASS: Click the SEARCH Button at the bottom of your screen. Click EVENTS, Click the drop -down menu to the right and choose education. and click the circle of the left of DATE. Then click the SEARCH Button. Touch the event on the left that you want to see more about. Once you choose a event to attend - you can click the NOTIFY button on the bottom right if the event is in the future or click the TELEPORT button if the event has started.

most often it is not how old you are, but rather how well you know SL and how well you can interact with it. For instance, trying to get a job somewhere as a salesperson and not knowing what a prim is... well that is not good get familiar with SL, the basics at least (and yes, knowing what a prim is, for me anyway, is the basics)

QFT (and Ciaran's as well) When Fatima and I first started, she was an 'exotic' dancer and I was just a plain punter with an avatar WAAAAY too close to my RL image (except my face was too flat - took me ages to figure out noses lol) Anyway, Fatima has more time at the PC than I, so started taking building classes - which she still does on occasion - and then made a pool with a little rocky waterfall and a couples pose. Took her a while, but the end result was absolutely charming. In the meantime, I just bought whatever I took a fancy to. To cut a long story short, and ignoring our estate business which isn't really relevant to this thread, Fatima now has 3 full sims dedicated to her homes and furniture/garden items, and I have literally '000s of textures in my inventory which I create and sometimes sell. It's been a journey 2 years in the making, but it shows what you can do with some imagination, perseverance and investing in the right tools for the job. Best of luck with your SL career Ryuni Inc

Hi Ryuni Many shops do hire customer service people and/or models. Some pay in lindens, others in merchandise. I'd go to shops and just check to see if they are hiring. Working somewhere you like their product helps, I think. Some will hire 'newbies' and some won't. Having a nice-looking avatar helps, just like in RL, for 'face to face' jobs. As for buying land it's very expensive. Then, other than one exception, you also have to pay 'tier' or upkeep on it to Linden Labs every month. As long as you have the land, you have to pay tier on it too. Even after you buy the actual land itself. The one exception is: If you sign up for a premium membership, which costs so much per year, you receive 'free tier on a 512 parcel.' You still have to find and buy your choice of a 512 (size) parcel. But after that, you're free and clear - no tier as long as you are a premium member (or maybe forever, I am not sure on that part). Details on premium membership are on this main site ( www.secondlife.com) And now I sound like I work for Linden Labs!
