Is there any way of knowing what a coalesced object in your inventor contains, without rezzing it to see?
If you do rezz the coalesced object will all the objects in it be highlighted so the whole group of objects can be positioned en masse?
How can you ensure that the coalesced group of objects be positioned in the same location/rotation as when they were coalesced?
I ask this, because a large build of mine was returned in one go by a new owner of the sim they were in. I got back several hundred objects in a small number of coalesced objects. I now have a new sim, with the same terrain loaded, and I want to rezz these objects so that I have the minimum of repositioning to do, as the original build took weeks.
Any tips gratefully received

Have the build tool selected BEFORE you rez the coallesced mess. Then all the seperate items will remain selected. As long as you don't de-select, you can position them as a group, as needed. Then repeat for the next coalesced batch, positioning them relative to the first set as needed. Repeat until you have restored the Build, then fine-tune as needed.
Normally, coalesced objects tend to be relatively close to each other. But be aware that if you have one in the group that is way off to one side or that is much higher than the others, the positioning arrows for the coalesced group could be difficult to locate. They will be in the geometric center of the coalesced selection group.

rezz them on a parcel that does not allow scripts in them to run so they do not state_entry, wich can change a lot.

Any tips gratefully received If most of the "build" consisted of "Object" then it's pot luck. It would then depend on the circumstance of the return. If i.e. you returned your own builds from your own land *And* you named every part of the build . it should be mainly obvious what has been coalesced from the title. e.g. table lamp ( coalesced object ) if half your house dissapeared and is named "table lamp" then it's almost certain "table lamp" is half your house. It all depends on the build and how it was returned.

Sozz missed the second part .
Go into build/edit before you rezz anything . then all the objects that come from your inventory will be "highlighted" and ready to move or delete. Sorry not in world now but I think press "b" then select edit before you rezz the item.
edit 3 .
all the objects are orientated as they were e.g. North is still North.
Only deviation being the ground level they are newly rezzed on.
