Hi. I have a question for the knowledgeable land people here. I own a very small lot on mainland that I have had since my newbie days. I bought it back in the day when I knew nothing of the land tools menu (or anything much else tbh), and really thought that a 256m plot would really look like 256 sq metres before I realised that my avatar was really 50 feet high compared with the land, or that the Lindens' idea of a metre somwhere got confused with a centimetre... Live and learn. Anyway, my land is my little mainland bolt-hole that no one knows of, so I can live in my pink bubble in the sky when I want peace. But, I'd kinda like to upgrade to a bigger bit of mainland as my safety place in case I ever loose my rented land and want to sell-up. No one in their right mind would want the size parcel I have and I refuse to ad-cut it to further make the sim look nasty; so I wonder at what price I could get a land bot to buy it without me going through the time of advertising? Obviously 0L$; but what would be the best I could get for a quick deal do you think? Thanks for your time.

The cynical answer to this is probably that it will end up as adfarm fodder anyway. Considered contacting others in the sim to see if they want a couple more prims?
A landbot will probably bite at about 6 per sqm I think, from talking to other people about their experiences.

do a search on main land plots that are 512 meters in size and set your price at .1 or .2 below that not sur eif a bot will buy a 256 but they hit 512's in moments at those prices
but best bet is check with others on the sim and let them know you will get more L for your meter that way

Good time for a reposting of Ray's three nevers:
Never set your land to "anyone" unless your really want anyone to be able to buy it. Even if the person you intend to sell it to is standing right next to you and there is no one else on the sim. Landbots are faster than humans.
Never abandon land.
Never set your land for less than .1 or .2 per meter below the lowest listing on the For Sale Mainland page. (For example, if the first listing is selling for L$8.7, set yours for L$8.6 a meter. It will sell in minutes).
But Dragger's plan is better. IM the other owners on the sim. I'll bet at least one is looking for prims and you can get more than the current base of L$8.7 for it.

Do your neighbors a favor and ask them first, especially those with parcels that are low on available prims and are between the standard tier levels of 512/1024/1536/2560/4608.
Nothing worse you can do than just dump the land at a low price and risk it going to cutter/extortionists. If you are gonna set it for a low price for quick sale, set if for sale by name to a land reseller (maybe one with parcels for sale nearby on the same region) and drop them an IM.

I was curious about what would happen if you abandoned your mainland?

From: Cunundrum Alcott I was curious about what would happen if you abandoned your mainland? it goes back to LL owned land and they resell it at an action that must be the stupidest button on the wholand control panel why give it back when you can give it to a friend or make a few lindens off of it

A landbot will probably bite at about 6 per sqm I think, from talking to other people about their experiences. I sold my ex-gallery land in literally two seconds flat .1 below the going rate. I put it at 8L per, and 3 landbots popped in immediately, but somehow, before they arrived, and right after I took my finger off my sell key, it was sold. Oh, the going rate, as in the cheapest land offered in land sales, was at 8.1L - that was a week or so ago. --- Oh, and I did offer the land first to those in the sim. Several days went by. Tier day was coming, and so - sold the land.

I mistakingly went over my pricing limit by just a smidge recenlty. I didn't want to spend much time at the higher level so I quickly set 1024 at 6L per meter. I was practically knocked on my ^%$$ by land bots

From: Cunundrum Alcott I was curious about what would happen if you abandoned your mainland? The reality is that it reverts to Governor Linden ownership. The default land settings allow anyone to build with no auto-return. This means that any number of things could show up there. My favorites are cars and planes left running and abandoned, and the freebie boxes and stray prims created by newbies that have long ago forgotten them. Months later probably, someone sends a support ticket and the Lindens clean it up, revert the land terraform to default, and put the lot into the auction queue.

Yes, PLEASE give your neighbors the first shot at it. In the last month or so I gained a lovely ad extortion farm across the road from my shop, and I would have gladly paid over market (and even tiered up) to prevent that from happening, had the previous owner said anything.
