edit the object. go to the object tab. change Z to whatever elevation you like, up to about 750m.

I have a skybox that I had to sit on the box (or fly), and elevate the box itself up to the desired elevation because it used a rezzing system. It is specifically designed to be a skybox (insert props here for Minoru Musashi, whose Japanese skyboxes are lovely creations). It is not just some house on the ground lifted to 750. If the build is too large to link together, it probably uses a rezzing system, and it will be well to sit on the box/fly and elevate the box to the desired elevation prior to rezzing.

I confused z and y again when I set up my little skybox (built it myself, so no instructions) Was a bit miffed when it ended up in my neighbour's garden 350 meters to my left instead of 350 meters above me....

Rezz a cube in the middle of your land. Change it's Z axis to the height you want your skybox to be located, and send it up. Fly up to the same height. Rezz your skybox on top of the cube you've just sent up. Voila! You may, now delete the cube...

Why noit do as I did? Build you house on the ground making sure you stay within your property lines, link it all together then using the z coordinates send to the elevation of your choice? Couldn't be easier.
Make sure you have some sort of flight assist so you can get to it if over about 150 meters. ![]() |

What I ended up doing was I rezzed a cube as suggested; made sure my feather was firmly attached! sat on cube- set the z to 300 - and zooooomm- away I went- once there I did rezz the pavilion, set my teleports to and from ground and went to town decorating.
All lovely but somehow, I lost the clouds... When I set up the thing there were puffy white clouds all around - I was going to have sits and dances in them- but now cant find the things! |

The cloud layer runs from about 180 to 260m so if you are too far above it you will lose the clouds. Sadly, to keep the cloud layer just below your house you need to accept that your home will be visible on the map (objects show on the map below 400m)

Another idea is to pull it out onto your plot of land first
(You may want to turn on "view boundaries" so you can seeyour borders...not sure of the exact term they call it, but you get the idea....its in one of teh pull downs on the top) anyways, Pull the house out onto your land and then right click each linked section(I'm assuming here that it is not one large linked house) and right clicking will open up an edit box. when you do that, you can then change the Z height to whatever you want BUT...only add a 3rd Z number to your house..for instance, if the z height while it is sitting on the ground is 35.235 then add a 4 to it to make it 435.235 and that section will zip up to that height. Do the same for the other pieces by adding a 4 to whatever the current Z height is (36.437 becomes 436.437) I move things this way sometimes when I want to change my house height in the sky...I just go around and change the 3xx number to 4xx or whatever I want. By just manipulating that number. ...and don't go any higher than 7xx.xx ! things get a little wacky up there. ![]() |

I set it at 300 but I don't think i would care about it showing on the map...why is that an issue?
(Pocket - I am tossing yours up there tonight over the second property - wish I could put a bridge between the two...hmmm..cool idea...) |

one thing I'd add, if your land is small, is to walk to all the extremities of your skybox and make sure they're all on your land, otherwise you're likely to get part of your skybox or objects autoreturned.....
This happened to me once, had the skybox rezzed for months, then my neighbor's vacant land sold and autoreturn enabled - about 1/3 of my skybox and objects ended up back in my inventory - doh !! |

I set it at 300 but I don't think i would care about it showing on the map...why is that an issue? A lot of us use skyboxes to make it a little more difficult to be found...if it's on the map, that doesn't work. ![]() _____________________

Lindal, you need to come by and see how much the place has changed... it's looking very nice, but I do need to get back to prim culling...

TP to Sky House
11-20-2007 08:00
My friend has a sky house. We have set the landmark to the correct height, but when I TP there, I always end up on the ground below the skyhouse, and have to fly (+feather) up to 246m.
Is there a trick to using TP to arrive at the desired height? |

Is there a trick to using TP to arrive at the desired height? What is probably happening is that your friend has his property settings for a landing point on the ground and for all inbound traffic set to arrive at the landing point. All he needs to do is change the setting to "anywhere." _____________________

she needs to decide where she wants people to land, go stand at that spot, open the "about land" menu, then click the "set landing point" button.
or she can do as already suggested and set the landing point to "anywhere". My friend has a sky house.
