I have a 14 year old cousin trying to set up a SL teen account. He registered with his mom and tried to download, but keeps getting a "you must be 18 to play Second Life" message. They told me last nite that they're trying to go to big bear island at set-up, so I retraced the steps and see that it also gives options for the L word, Avatar Island, and several others on the main grid. Do they just need to go to "skip this step" when setting him up, or are they doing something wrong. It was confusing to me as well, but I couldn't go furhter w/o setting up an actual account. Can anyone help?

skip this step doesn't work either
![]() I have my son begging so I final y gave in. and tried for 3 hours to register him it goes to the main grid stuff like avatar island. and skip this step goes back to the sign up page with the chosen avatar name available again over and over from every link seems you cant sign up a new teen account. wonder why so many are on the "adult" grid...you can do 100 avatars in an hour if you want. _____________________

I know you are probably doing this, but just to make sure... are you signing up through the Teen Second Life site?

They did go throught the teen site and went round and round as described by Distilled1.
It boggles my mind! It does seem easier to lie at the moment using Mom or Dad's card. What a bummer. It seems like it would be a great opportunity for kids to experience other cultures and exchange ideas. I certainly wouldn't let him go through the adult grid. Is there maybe a direct URL that one could use to actually download the teen version or any other work-arounds? He's gonna be so bummed! _____________________

you could try this.... (I don't have a cell phone so can't verify this way)
use the regular adult signup page, skip the logon location, it'll take you to name page, make sure to use the right birthdate and it'll flip you to the teen side for RL name address etc to get a particular teen gric logon location using the regular client, edit the shortcut to "D:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -url secondlife://Andorra/128/128/0 change andorra to a known good sim in the teen grid... if bear island is actually named such then "D:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -url secondlife://Andorra/128/128/0 |

TSL Registration

I'm sorry that you've had trouble signing up a teen for TSL. Currently only SMS is enabled so a cell phone with a US carrier is required to make an account. We appologize for the inconvenience and hope to have credit card verification back up and running soon. In the meantime email me at blue@lindenlab.com with the name of the failed account and I'll try to help.
