A difficult issue especially if you are a US citizen.....
First of all lets put this in context. $L600 odd is approximately equal to one weeks premium stipend (old account) or two weeks (new account), or to put it another way its fungible value is around $2 US, £1.50 sterling, or god help me $1 Euro. Remember those stats when (and if) you get cross.
By and large I do not think there is a lot you can do. It is unlikely Linden Labs would directly involve themselves in this issue as there are so many variables that could cause this, anything from a script or grid error, though to a personal mistake in interpreting the payout on the machine, down to lack of funds by the machine owner.
I occasionally like walking though some of Second Life’s little footpaths especially on the old continent, last year I was surprised by the large number if little shops in the mists of a virtual nowhere with one or two slot machines. It is possible that the machine owner is only a very rare visitor to Second Life and the machine has more or less been abandoned, again an error of omission rather than deliberate fraud.
I do not gamble myself nor do I have any Casino business interest but would conclude by saying most successful Second Life Casinos tend to be high traffic areas, due in part to camping chairs, user interest and/or high payout/high stakes. If your loss was in one of these latter places I suggest you IM the owner, for such an amount I suspect you would get paid on a goodwill basis. But apart from that your options are limited; if it was me for example I would make a point of telling everybody in world. If the Casino is on rented land and/or a private Estate Island let the Estate Owner know
Finally if you want to play the slots in future I suggest you stick to well known places.
Regards
John

Jen, in most cases if it was due to *Stale Transactions* or the database/asset server is having problems, or packet loss is involved due to LL having bandwidth issues, you can say good-bye to your money. The owner of the machine will not have any transaction history as well. File a bug report... I have half my inventory missing since Saturday, I am sure I will never see it again as well.

Send a Chat record of the transaction to the Machine owner, reporting a defective machine. If it IS an Honest machine, and the owner verifies it's Bugged they will usually make Good. If they Ignore you, the machine is probably Fraudulent, and you can Whistle for your money. As pointed out above, If you or the casino owner are located in the US, it's Illegal anyway. The surest way to Not lose your Money is to Not Gamble.

Also if the machine owner's account doesn't have the Lindens to cover the payout then you wont get paid.

Tabi Top Ten is Based upon Traffic, Not Honesty, so the two Options remain. If the Casino Owner consistantly refuses to Acknowledge the dept, then you can safely assume that Scamming people is a way of Life with Him/Her, and you are Unlikely to see your Money. Take your Business elsewhere, or simply Put your Money in the Big white Porceline Slot machine in your Bathroom, and Pull the handle. Ultimately that is the fate of all gambled Monies anyway. Angel.

Tabi You could always post the details to an external forum as this person did here with their problem http://uncensored.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=8357&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0as we cant name names here these other forums are at least a place where u can warn others of the shady practices of some casino owners HTH

Better than a gaming control board, just admit that dumping Lindens into an inherently untrustworthy object is just plain stupid. Don't patronize casinos. From: DOUGIE Flossberg time to start sl gamming control board join my group

I realize I'm showing my newbie status here when I say this but...
Why do people play viritual slot machines when scripts are so easily written/modified to NEVER pay out or pay out pittence? There is no gaming control in SL, so why do people throw their money away? Or IS there gaming control?
*scratching my head*
Thanks for any enlightenment.

Thanks for any enlightenment. No there is no regulation what so ever and yes you are correct that a script can be written anyway they want, even to never pay out at all. Not to mention gambling in SL is illegal for any US citizen, both owning a casino or simply gambling. Gambling will get banned in SL eventually, right after the first law suites are filled or the first college kid goes to jail for stealing to cover his SL gambling addiction. Some people try and say that the feds won’t care about gambling in SL with “fractions of a penny” but in all reality, if you go to any high stakes SL poker gambling room you can find people gambling with hundreds of thousands, and sometimes even millions of L$, which amounts to tens of thousands of USD$. Lastly, gambling (real life or not/regulated or not) is for people with poor math skills.

Gambling is a tax on those who can't do math.
Also it preys on inherent human pychology, called intermittant reward. People will play a game all day long if he gets paid a small amount once in a while. Doesn't even have to be close to what they put in.

I dont know who brought this topic back from its death but i will put in my 2 cents worth.
There is nothing wrong with gambling in SL, i gamble often and have a good time doing it, you just have to know which places you can trust.
Sometimes i win sometimes i lose, but to me all money i have in SL is money im flushing down the toilet anyway (as an entertainment expense) so why not gamble and do something fun, its far more enjoyable in SL than normal internet gambling and slingo and poker tournamets are great fun to enter.
AND NOT ALL CASINOS ALL FILLED WITH CAMPING ZOMBIES!!!! just had to say that before they were mentioned.
Obliously it sucks when you dont get paid out and i have experienced that myself a few times, but good owners will always give the money back it their is a fault or a problem with the machine. You just have to know where to go

Actually, it's a stupidity tax. The more stupid you are, the more you have to pay.
