If the verification is just for access to Adult regions and content, it's not necessary to go through the "age" verification process; one only needs to have payment information on file (not necessarily having *used* that payment info, although that can push things along if the process gets stuck). One can do that by associating a credit card or PayPal account with the SL website or XstreetSL.

It's just an age assertion system. Keep the computer happy, feed it rubbish, it knows no difference.

There is no legal basis upon which LL or their agent are entitled to demand this, this is just an ass covering excercise so that they can't have a finger pointed at them when they are accused of being complicit in allowing underage on to the grid.

ive used my payment info for age verification and still cannot get into adult areas. i've tried the age verfication form on the site but it never accepts it.

I just checked and your profile clearly shows you are PIU (Payment Info Used). If you cannot access adult areas (areas flagged as "adult", such as Zindra; not to be confused with parcels with age-verification set, as these are two completely different things), then you should file a support ticket.

Edit: Before filing that ticket, check a couple of things at your end first. Be sure you are using the v1.23.4 or later viewer. Next, open Preferences, open the "General" tab, and make sure your rating is set to "PG, Mature, and Adult".

I do not drive so I just used my state ID and said it was a DL.

yeah i made sure to check the option under the general tab. downloading an update to my emerald view right now so let's see if that helps

i tried updating the emerald view and still getting rejected. I'll try the most current SL viewer

go to edit-preferences and, on the first, general, tab, go to the Ratings drop down (near the bottom of the page) and make sure it's set to PG, Mature & Adult. You're Payment Info Used, as Katheryne says, so you don't need to worry about verifying.. you are verified.

You might need to relog before the new setting takes effect, but then it should not be a problem. Try TPing to the Arapaima info hub at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Arapaima/131/170/22 and see if you can get there. If you can, then you're OK. Any problems you're still having will be because land owners have, unnecessary, specified that you need to have verified your age rather than just your account, but your PIU status should get you into most places while you try to sort the Age thing out if you want to.

must be the land owners. i just tried that link and got there fine but still can't get into my friends place.

Yeah, your friend must have "Admit age verified" set on her parcel. Tell her that setting is virtually useless since it does not work properly, and hasn't since that feature was added.

I could change that before i age verified and only had payment info on file

What happens when you go back to the age verification link? In the good old days it used to say you were already verified, then the system had a burp, just wondering if it's working again for those newly verified.

A few weeks ago I purchased some Adult land and the next day while trying to log in to home (the new adult parcel), I kept getting booted to a Korean sim.
"Not again" I thought, since I've already had to do this a few times....

Log into the website, go to my account, check on Age Verification... and it tells me for the 3rd or 4th time that I am indeed not verified even tho I have had payment info on file since 2004, Age Verified just about as soon as you could, and have Age Verified again.... and again... and again. Not to mention the day before I had been able to not only access Adult land, but purchase it.

So I Age Verify for the umptenth time and can finally get back to my land.

I've learned to accept this sort of stupidity from LL. Imagine how many new residents are confused and simply give up even trying to figure it out.

/me curses LL for creating this confusion. There are two ways to access Adult land -- that is, a sim that has been flagged as "Adult". One is to have payment info on file. That's why you could change that drop-down. You were already "account verified" or "adult verified" or whatever you want to call it, by virtue of having payment info used.

Another is to verify your age by sending Aristotle some personal details to verify your Age. That'll work just as well. You need to do one or the other of them to access Adult land but you don't have to do both.

Completely and utterly separate from this, landowners can flag any sort of land -- Adult, PG or Mature -- as requiring either Payment Info or Age Verified. So, for example, you need to be payment info on file to get into TRU, which is PG. The fact your being payment info on file will also get you into Zindra is coincidental. And being Age Verified won't help someone who's trying to get into TRU if they haven't got payment info on file.

Similarly, if someone wants to, they can insist on Age Verification before you can get into their PG sim.

A lot of landowners mistakenly thought that they had to set Age Verification in their land settings if they wanted to have Adult Content. They were completely wrong. All they needed to do was set the sim as Adult in their estate tools and leave the access flags alone -- flagging the sim as adult automatically restricts access to people who're allowed to be there, without the landowner needing to do anything.

Similarly, the fact someone may have set Age verification or Payment Info On File/Used as required to enter a Mature or PG sim doesn't mean that he can then put Adult content there -- far from it.

I raised the matter with Blondin Linden at the last Zindra office hours, 'cos so many people are getting confused. He claims to have taken the matter on board, but I suspect people need to make more of a fuss about this, though, before anything's likely to get done. And yet there I was, both with Payment Info on File (for the past 5 and a half years) and Age Verified (for more then a year now) and still unable to access the Adult land I had just purchased the day before (while standing on it) until I went back into my account on the website and Aristotle verfied AGAIN (something I had to do the first time I tried to get onto Zindra a several weeks before, even tho I had already Age Verified thru Aristotle months and months before).

Same computer, same viewer, different results from one day to the next.

The whole system would be confusing enough if it actually worked. But it doesn't work.
