Duplicate Regions??

I need someone to explain Regions to me. Up until today, I thought a Region was a SIM. I discovered today that there is an island (Commerce Island) that if I go there and look at ABOUT LAND anywhere on the island it tells me that the Region is Qinglong. This island is an Estate (complete with tier). On the MAINLAND there is a REGION named Qinglong as well. At first glance, I thought WOW, I can buy land here because it is in the Qinglong Region and I will have more prims. After a lot of searching around, I no longer believe that to be true!

Can someone explain how there can be 2 Regions with the same name? What am I missing here?

I'm not sure what you are seeing, but I just went to Commerce Island and the region name is clearly Commerce Island. Perhaps the about land info didn't properly get refreshed in your viewer?

It shows correctly for me now too. I swear I wasn't seeing things! I went there several time because I couldn't believe my eyes. SORRY! Another one of SL little mysteries.

You weren't there's a long standing glitch where that can happen, sometimes it's worse than others.

btw a sim and a region are the same thing, an estate however is one or more islands.

I have seen this happen too
just a bug, it sometimes gives my land the name of another parcel complete with that parcel settings making my land unusable for me until it clears up (the other parcel that it seems to pick up the name and settings of it a no build to me)
