Finding SL Password

When I signed up for SL, LL sent me an email with my username and a link to activate the account, but LL never gave my password in the email. My password was in my sign up screen in asterisks. Now the asterisks are gone and i've no idea the password they gave me. Any way to find out what it was? If not, I guess my av is sol.

Go to the login page at secondlife.com and hit the retrieve password button. Actually, how did you log into these forums? Don't you need a password to log in? Your password here is the same as your password to log into SL.

Unless they've changed the sign up procedure, I think you choose your own password when you register. In any case, you can log out of the website, then click the link which says 'Forgot Your Password?' on the login screen to reset it.

@ Trout: Maybe his or her web browser is set to save it.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Good point. Your answer solves the problem, though. Just log out of the website here and go to log back in, then retrieve the password.

I've registered twice now through two different "partners" or communities or whatever they called them. Both involved e-mailing the password to the e-mail you provide (and no line where you would enter a password - the e-mailed password is always some hard to remember gibberish). Actually, it was three times I tried to register. First time my e-mail ate the password (I assume), and second time I lost the password before I changed it, but after I had been in world a little bit. So I started a third time. I know my password now.

I've only ever registered through the regular LL process, and it's been probably 8 months since the last time I did that. At that time, though, I did make my own password. I think. If my memory isn't failing me.
