im obviously being a bigger dork than usual....but...im finding it hard to buy clothing gifts for xmas for my guy with trans perms. I know i know I could ask the merchant to send it direct...but i kinda wanted to give him a pretty box...while we are together and see him open it...with the stuff inside...and im not overly excited about any of the full perm reseller gear ive seen, its mostly dreadful.
I understand that I can buy from onrez or SLX...but it takes away the *moment*...having it just delivered through a 3rd party.
Ive hunted around all the cool stores i know...they all seem to have stopped trans items
anyone know where I can get some stuff with trans so *i* can give it to him?

You can always ask a vendor for a special permissions purchase. The worst they can say is no. With clothing it isn't as much of a problem as it is with things that just have to be copy ok and no trans (vehicles, houses, etc..) SL just isn't set up for gift giving and is made less friendly by issues that have pushed most content creators into not selling anything with transfer perms.

anyone know where I can get some stuff with trans so *i* can give it to him? One of the main reasons I sell my clothing with trans perms. You can check out my store via my profile picks. I also have gift boxes for $L1 around the X-Mas tree.

I went to my BF on his birthday and said: "Stand by for delivery of your present."
Then I sent the present from SL Exchange.
The moment was good, only the pretty box was not there.
Nice experience for both of us.

We just had a thread on menswear stores that sell "trans" clothing. My clothing lines are trans.

try devilfish mall - mens clothing stores there's a good few with transferrable items BMC jeans (jeans, tops, tattoos) Eros Designs (formal wear/shirts) S2L leather (leathers, harnesses) SEBwear (underwear/vests) Vitamen (sheer/underwear/net clothing) There's probably more but those are the ones off the top of my head http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dahlia%20Island/193/181/22

I carry a few UK Couture men's items in my store, which are transferrable. Check my profile for a lm.

I like white's idea, and you could always add the bo and pretty bow, and have it give him a card and tell him in it the rest of the present is on the way.... I hate +trans clothes because they are always no-copy, and I want to be able to build differnt outfits, and not have to flip around my inventory for five minutes to match pieces up... much easier to add the clothes to different folders. of course your guy may not care about that so......

The subject of permission preferences comes up quite a bit, but it is certainly worth addressing.
In general, most outfits that have prim attachments (prim skirts, ruffles, hats, uniform gee gaws, scarfs, antennae, what have you) will need to be sold with modify permissions. And most vendors (myself included) prefer to sell modifiable items with the copy permission as well: mistakes in adjustment can and do happen and it's rather unfair to the purchaser to make her buy a whole new outfit because she accidentally delinked all the prims in a hat, for example.
But, most vendors are also quite willing to set an outfit to transfer/no-copy if you ask. Do try sending a notecard as well as an IM because IMs cap (mine will cap if I'm not on for a day, and I'm hardly as busy as some are).
And, as someone mentioned, SLEx/OnRez are both viable options as well.
Hope that helps!

Some will remember my mantra: 'Tesla shoes are trans!'
[not meaning for your bf, Faithless, but for those who have gf's.]
And a girl cannot have too many shoes. Right, Girls?

Here's what I'm doing. Since many objects need to be mod (shoes...etc)
Buy a nice box with a ribbon.
Add another box in the contents of the main box....and in THAT box I am adding an LM of the store I sw the gift, a picture taken of the gift I want to give, and a notecard. When the time comes for my partner to "get" her gift, I will transfer the money to her.
I know...I'm kinda disappointed that it has come to that but with so many gifts that require modding after purchase, its impossible to get them trans.

Sooz Exactly. But I go a bit further: NO MOD= NO BUY ALSO Too many badly made items to accept no mod. Once you buy, you're stuck with the build it comes with. Like pants too tight for men. Or furniture you need to adjust to your surroundings because its too big or too small.
