Cristi its probebly your internet connection.
Clear cache (just because)
Close SL.
Unplug your router or modem or both for about 30 seconds
Plug your modem in then when the lights stop blinking plug in the router
Restart your computer
Start SL
Check and see what your maximum band width is (Preferences – Network) … probably set to 500
Fiddle with that.
If that doesn’t work then go to and empty sim (Morant is good) and Detach All
Give it a few minutes
If that doesn’t work …. ?

Now - if that all doesn't help:
Go to an empty SIM (like Hahne)
Turn on the advanced menu (Alt-Ctrl-D)
Go in there to Character -> Character Test -> Test Male or Female.
This should revert you to the very basic avatar.
If this works (Hitrate 99%) then go and create your avatar layout one piece at a time to see which texture caused the load problems.
