Anyone else getting sick of how SLOW sl is getting these days? Sorry linden people but do you expect us to buy a new videocard or new pc every few months? Yes I have lowered my quality and performance scale (which gives rubbish graphics) so i can load faster, yes i have cleared my caches. I see clouds for what seems like ages, everwhere i go seems to take forever to rezz. I don't think my pc or laptop are especally creaky or old - i now have to stop every other program running to make SL run at all efficiently and even then its slow.
Suggestion: RESTRICT the number of people loggin on. Say to 50K. When it was below 50K it seemed to be ok.
Unless of course you just want to make money from all of us dupes in which case continue with the way you're going.
Anyone else agree?

No, I meant YOU. You complain about how slow everything is now - which, by the way, I'm not really seeing on my middle-of the-road, single-core machine, unless it's VERY busy where I'm at - but if they throttled logins and you couldn't get in when you needed to, pretty soon you'd be complaining about that.

or linden people (im sure youre rich) get some system or server in that can actually handle the tens of thousands who are loggin in now. How about THAT?
btw im still writing all this because i am waiting for things to rezz on SL and i am BORED!

Anyone else agree? I don't think restricting is an option.. However I do agree that with all the extra cash flow they will be getting from OS owners, keeping their ability to even login should be a priority. And yes, when the numbers are high I notice slow rezzing... I've commented on the video issues so much I am bleeding pallatized textures.... I crash like clockwork, after disabling pallatized textures and rebaking... always! disable, wait for it wait for it.... crash... relog disable pallatized (because my shoes are up to my ass) rebake.. wait for it wait for it... crash..... relog.. disable pallatized... cause my eyelashes are now white... wait... ok.. I will be ok for an hour or so... whew.. crash! |
