You usually time out when you go AFk . Going AFK can be turned off by openeing the advanced menu at the top of your screen. If you do not have advanced, just type ctrl/alt/d then you can navigate through Advanced/Character/Character Tests/Go Away AFK when Idle needs to be unchecked

Any other reason would be crash or Sim going down or network time outs.

Heh you can throw that away if you just disable it in your Viewer

If you plan to minimize the viewer, the Go Away When Idle option won't prevent it from setting you away then, but I guess a script could. Minimizing the window seems to have bad effects though anyway...

Since the others have pretty much solved the problem, I gotta admit my curiosity is getting the better of me. If you're sleeping and not playing, why do you want SL to keep running?

Because then I don't have to load up SL every day and besides it would be cool to actually like act like your asleep on there.

I wouldn't want to be logged in all the time. I value my free time in SL when I'm not being watched or given things to do from an RL computer!!!

New user, wants to stay connected all night, gives lame excuse of not wanting hassle of reloading program == camping.

Welcome to SL & the forums JoJoanna!

One thing to be aware of here - some of the viewers leak memory and therefore the longer you are online, the more memory is being chewed up by SL and it will eventually cause a crash anyway.

There is a built in de-idler in the view. Press CTRL-ALT-D to enable the Advanced menu. Then go to Advanced -> Character -> Character Tests and un-X Go Away/AFK When Idle.

Anti-Idle dscripts (like huds) won't help you if you minimize the window.

If you want to give your video card a rest, log off of SL, and log back on using a light program like SLeek or Metabolt. Though that will make it harder to camp.

As others have suggested, the menu option is all you really need. Just keep the SL window open while you sleep.

In advance tools, I forgot how to get up I can send you note care but there is way to disable away I haven't needed it long time since Winter told me how when I was new but if you like are listening to music, watching tv in sl,etc you may still crash and freeze up even with unchecking disable away just what will happen is you still hear music or media, see sky, and environment but nothing else will work. Often I will wake up and not be able to get avatar to stand up when I have frozen overnight.

Hey now, I stayed on all night once, and slept in my bed. Granted, I had just bought my first "cover up" blanket and thought it was very cool. So I put my PJs on, tucked myself in, curled up....and walked away from the computer :)

The built in idler has been known not to work on certain versions too, I stopped using it on v1.19.1(4) due to this, strange thing is the anti-idler orb still worked - I use that on the rare occasions I need it - it has never failed me. I never minimize SL though and it does work if the app is in the background (at least on Windows XP).

there is something in the debug menu, I don't remember what it is called, but you just change the amount of time set on it and it will keep you in forever. I don't recall because it has been awhile, but I think you change it to 999999, it changes the number to a negative and you never get logged out. Sorry I can't be of more help. Search AFK in the debug menu and you will find it.
