I just moved into a new dorm, and I can used both an ethernet cable and wireless, but neither work for SL.

Another game I play also didn't work, until I used a different proxy to connect.

Is there anyway to do this for SL? Please help!

P.S. - I use a Mac.

A better place to ask this question is to the network administrator for the college, university or school you are attending. SL (and other programs on the internet) are often blocked by the adiministrators of the networks. They have their reasons.........you will probably have to argue your case.

I'm sure there is a hack or some workaround....there always is. But, doing that is probably not the best thing to do. Just go the correcty route to resolve your issue.

Thanks, I'll try that.

If they blocked the ports at their firewall, short of convincing them to open the ports up, there's nothing you can do, unfortunately. :(

...and, if you do find a way around how the school network admins have set things up, this would be an excellent time to think about consequences.

In addition to asking the tech department you could try checking to see if your school has some involvement with SL. If they do perhaps you can get whoever is involved with the school's SL activities to help you get it working. You could start by just putting your school's name and "second life" into Google. (or Bing. or whatever)
