Newbie turned new clothes to cardboard??

Ok as a newbie I finally thought I was brave and smart enough to do a little shopping. I did ok the first time I went out and about. Then yesterday I goofed up. Started when I bought a ring. When I click ring and then clicked wear, I had this car tire size ring attached to my whole left arm! Then some adjustments came up I tried to adjust the ring. Bad move!! Well…now all the rest of my recent purchases when I try to wear, attach as large flat pieces that look like square cardboard cut outs. Can anyone please talk me back to SL reality! Looks like it’s back to baby steps

Those things most likely need to be Unpacked. Drag the item from your inventory to the ground. Right Click on the item, and select Open from the Pie Menu. A box will pop up with all the included parts in the package, with a button saying Copy to Inventory. Click on it and the item(s) will be in a folder in the inventory where you can now Wear them.

Be aware that you need to be on land that allows you to "build" to be able to drag your boxes to ground. You can do that at places like NCI, The Shelter or Sandboxes. Some stores also allow it, so customers can unoack their stuff there.

I think I was standing in the wrong place alright. Moved to different location and things worked. I have fancy new oufits, store bought so to speak, (not home made?)

we have all done that and i have to say i find it cute when i hear what people think is happenig as they tell me with a box stuck to them..mainly because it reminds me of the first time it happend to me..

i just remember saying:
ok ..i thought trying to work the appearance things were bad but this is just plain embarrasing..
my friends were making fun..no ceka leave it .it is so you!! you look great really..
it's fun to look back on times like those because they were the best

Well, check one thing off your newbie card! Used to be it was the box on the head...except LL changed it to the hand. So, congrats on wearing the box on your hand!

After two years in-world- I still manage to wear a box or two from time to time

I've learned to dress myself, well with some help from new friends!!
I've also learned spots to save to hideout while trying on new things...
And even learned to adjust to fit!
Feeliing so...accomplished!

Sounds like we need to upgrade you to wearing posing stands soon?
