Does anyone have experience of using SL with a trackball? Is it as easy as with a mouse? I've tried using a graphics tablet, but if I try to move the camera with it, the results are not good ...

I've used a trackball for a while, but I found it made my thumb ache when I was doing a lot of build work. For short stays, and normal wandering around it was fine though.

Hello. I use a trackball in my left hand (Kensington Expert Mouse) and a WACOM Graphire tablet in my right. I use the tablet for finer SL movements when building or placing items. I use the trackball for pretty much everything else. It may take a while to get the hang of the rhythm, but once you do, it's like playing an instrument! Oh, and I use a Logitech Dual Action for moving/flying etc. I do not own a traditional mouse (they're death as far as I'm concerned, and will cripple).

PS: I totally forgot to mention, the trackball is awesome for zooming in and out. I love it. Most of my activity is with the logitech dual action controller, coupled with the trackball. The WACOM pen tablet is essential for building or placing items.

I have used a trackball for years (a basic logitech optical cordless one) and found it is not only easier on the arm but also more precise. Takes some time to practice but really worth it.

I use my Razer Gaming Mouse. A Bit over-kill for SL.
I'm really really really tempted to get one of the PC Compatible "dance pads" to try out.
I used a trackball years ago. Funniest thing was when a friend of mine was using my computer and moving it like a mouse, saying "Dude? Your mouse doesnt work."
