Hi,
I'm new here and have noticed that a few of the avatars don't have their names floating over their heads, although my settings say show always. Anybody know what this means?

Champ Were you a good distance from them? If so, the names don't show up sometimes for me, in that case, until I move closer or cam closer. If not, I honestly don't know.

From: Brodsky Zapedzki ...and it's only 'cause Linden Labs is sharing a server in Colorado. Actually, Linden Lab has "colo", co-location facilities in San Francisco and Texas. You can cross a sim boundary and go from California to Texas in a single step! And wind up with your hair up your butt!!

Deandra, thanks for trying to help, but I was standing right in front of them.
It's a shame the other people who responded are so unhelpful and immature.

It is rather confusing--I never see the Voice dot behave that way.

I have seen this very occasionally in the last month or so, never before that. When it happened, I experimented with different camera angles, going away and returning, no diff. I wasn't able to find any mention of it in Jira, tho didn't search extremely carefuly.
Personally, I also have intermittent difficulty getting particular textures to rez. So the ability of my PC to just plain cope with SL is suspect.
No idea of cause. I've been assuming it is a very intermittent bug or artifact of packet loss, lalala, whatever. Hasn't happened enough for me to characterize when. I doubt its packet loss; I am lucky in my broadband, and generally don't stay logged in when SL is experiencing widespread packet loss on the grid.

It's all we have to get us through the tough times. Unfortunately we have a lot of tough times in SL. I do hope you don't take the jokes personally. And if you join in, you could make friends with some really nice and fun people here.
