Hi everyone. My avators name is Bonita Brianna and up to about a fortnight ago I was really enjoying my adventures in SL , then the other avators were commenting on the fact that I was still grey and that only certain features were visible. This began the same time that an ongoing warning was coming up on the screen as follows :- [Unable to upload --- ( then what I assume is the particular file name consisting of a whole lot of numbers & letters)--------- due to the following reason. The server is experiencing unexpected difficulties. Please try again later] . This notice sometimes comes up many times during my downloading into SL totally interfering with my enjoyment of SL. I have only been active in SL since last February so I still have a lot to learn but this problem is really getting to me to the extent that I may have to abandon SL altogether> Now I am wondering could it have something to do with my broadband provider although I have no problem surfing the net quickly. Everything seems Ok with my broadband. I do hope there is someone who can help me with this problem and then I'll be able to enjoy SL again

Try clearing your cache...edit/preferences/network/clear cache and relogging SL. Another good trick is rebaking....crtl+alt+r, this forces the servers to *rebake* your textures, and will often cause them to reload properly. I remember seeing something about this, but i thought they fixed it in the 1.27.1 server update. If it continues, try filing a support ticket ![]() ~brie |

Ty Brieanne for the prompt reply to my question. Now what is the 'support ticket' ? I'm fairly new at all this

If you click on the "support" link in the bar at at the top of this page, just under the pictures, it should take you to the approproriate section of the website.
Brieanne is right; it was supposed to be fixed in the update, but I see from the comments in the jira at http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4457 that the fix doesn't seem to have been too effective in some cases. Some people there have reported that the problem resolved itself after their sim was restarted, so if you're on a private sim you might want to ask the owner or estate manager to do that for you. It does seem to depend on where you log in; I couldn't log in at my home location for a while because of this, but was fine if I logged in first at a friend's place on another sim. It also seems, as far as I can make out, to be to do with the connection between your pc and sl rather than a simulator problem (certainly other people on my home sim weren't experiencing the same difficulties) so a possible fix would be to reboot your cable model by closing SL, unplugging the modem from the power source, leaving it for a minute or two, then plugging it back in and giving it a minute or two to re-establish a connection with the internet. This, which was recommended to me as a fix for a lot of such problems by one of the more helpful Lindens, works more often than not. |

what you describe reminds me of my sl experience when my isp throttles back my bandwidth (to 56k!)

You could also try custom-setting some of your graphics in Preferences, especially if you use a Mac. I had a friend with the same problem, and we did the things Brieanne suggests, plus tweaked her graphics settings. The next time she logged in, there was a huge improvement

Once again thanks guys. Yesterday I tried one of your suggestions by switching off the router for a while and then switching it back on. Innula's suggestion. Lo and behold there was actually an improvement. Not completely fixed but an improvement all the same. Interesting.
