Flight Woes (relates to Adult, really)

I currently have a residence on Honah Lee, which is E of the Santori continent. Being a RL avaition fanatic, I've obviously taken to aviation in SL. So, tonight I took off from my house with the intention of exploring the Santori continent (which, surprisingly I had yet to fly around). I had no intention of actually making it all the way around the continent - boarder crossings being what they are - and it was not great), but to my surprise, and delight, I made it almost 3/4 of the way around the continent. This, despite numerous numerous border crossing problems and a single "Parcel Full". Imagine my surprise when my flight was terminated with a "You must be Adult Verified to enter this parcel" notice (which was a surpirse on Mainland) . I am adult verified by way of having a CC on file. Just to verify, I TP'd into Zindra afterward without problem.

The point of this post, if there is one, is that despite all the technogical barriers to flight and/or boating in SL, it's a bit ironic that this was the one that brought me down - literally.

So, for the question - has anyone else experianced this?

The parcel owner has checked "Residents who are not age verified adults" on the Access tab of About Land.

I haven't yet been rejected from a parcel for not being adult verified. One look at my birth date and LL probably thinks, "Jeez, what kid is going to claim THAT!" I do think it's a cryin' shame it has to end the flight though. Why can't it just stop you or let you back up? I know, it's something technical about the scripts.

What I hate are the unexpected script disabled parcels. My alt tries to stick to the highways, but that can be hard in a dirigible.

I know what you mean, that's why I was so surprised to make it as far as I did (although I pretty much tried to circumnavigate the continent- only to be denied for something rediculous).

It's not the same.

CC allows you access to Adult land, but to access "Age Verified Only" land you have to be age verified through the buggy verification process.

What's not the same?

ETA: just read the rest of your post (geez, there's an idea huh?). OK, thanks for the info.

Of course, that doesn't releive my inconsolable disappointment :)

I guess you don't have to have adult content on your land to have the right to restrict only verified people able to enter you land.
Problem is it probably shouldn't extend all the way up, I think either land should be sold in 3 dimensions or maybe land acess rights should only work to 1000m.
This of course brings in a problem for people flying because there's nothing to see anyway above 1000m, so perhaps there really should have been a no build flight zone from say 100m above ground level to maybe 400-500m so people with skyboxes can have a view and have privacy and people flying can see SL as they fly without hitting banlines.
Better yet have the option to set the altittude you want your land restrictions to work in.

I've been seeing more of this lately. Perhaps people are doing it to try to make a case for getting a landswap.

These parcel access tools are a relic from the time they were pushing the Aristotle age verification. If you own a piece of mature mainland (can you do this on PG land as well?) you can restrict access to age-verified only (via Aristotle) or PIOF only, or both, in which case, you must be age-verified AND PIOF to have access. Lots of these parcels seem to have both checked, and no adult content in sight.

They're just another sort of banline, and just as useful

It doesn't go that high. The parcel-level "Age Verified only" banline effect is exactly the same as any other ban that is not explicitly by individual avatar name. 50M above the terrain, and no higher. Restricting a parcel to a group, restricting a parcel to only an explicit list of invited guests, restricting a parcel to only people with payment info, and restricting a parcel to age-verified only... ALL of these only protect the area 50M above the terrain surface. From 51M above the terrain on up, access is unrestricted. In deference to the strident demands of SL aviators, LL watered down the banline effects so they are virtually worthless.

The ONLY banline that goes higher than 50M above the terrain is an explicit ban by name. If I ban "Griefer Havok" from my parcel, then he is banned to 768 Meters. Not to the 4096 M build height, but only to 768 Meters. They never updated the banline height when they increased the max build height.

SO... The only reason the OP hit a banline that said they needed age verification is because they were flying too low. If the terrain is 25M at the surface, they need to keep their plane at 75M or higher, to avoid banlines.

Above the puny 50M layer over the terrain, the only way to enforce security is a scripted security orb, and THAT can't give the result the OP reported, because the Lindens abslutely refused to add LSL calls that can act on age verification status.

That's the point, I am verified,
You're account verified and age-verified?

These are separate and unrelated states.

Thanks Ceera for clarifying that, nice new forum avatar too BTW.
Yeah I don't think their should be flight over residential lands at less than 100m unless they are taking off or landing :)
