Recently I have been getting the message "object not found in database..." (or similar), whenever I log in to SL. I have absolutely no idea what the object is... SL obviously does, but doesn't think to mention that rather important fact in the message So.... my question is, does anyone know of a way to find out just which "object" is missing. I have detached my HUDS and relogged in, but still get the message. Thanks

I have that message quite regularly. Clearing cache helps (temporary, until the message comes back).
Had numerous support tickets, which cumulated in the trusted old "Sorry but you are running a third party viewer. you're on your own there" reply after they could for the life of them not figure out what was going wrong for like 16 weeks or longer.

Thanks Lance... I have tried clearing cache a couple of times... no joy I am not using a third party viewer, so it may be worth my while contacting the Lindens.... however I can imagine that'll be a looooooong job

i found that clearing cache _manually_, then logging in directly to a "close to the bone" location helps as a last resort.
"close to the bone" = a region that is hosted very close to important LL places, like Help island or linden village. Pooley comes to mind. I have live chat logs somewhere that suggest that pooley usually is hosted in the same 19" rack as help island public...
if you don't know how to _manually_ clean cache:
1. find your cache folder (look in preferences/network) 2. logout of SL 3. use whatever file manager your operating system uses to navigate to that folder 4. delete all of it's contents (WARNING. If you went to the wrong folder by accident, this might seriously cripple your SL installation or your whole machine)
a few examples for where the cache folder is if you did not tamper with it:
on windows vista: C:\Users\{Your windows username}\AppData\Local\SecondLife
on linux: $HOME/.secondlife/cache
on Mac OS: no idea. have to check at home if nobody else can chip in.

Way back when they were having lots of asset server issues, I am pretty sure that some content really was lost. If you have something in inventory from that time that has not been rezzed since then, it is very possible that the message is correct and the object's definition in the database truly was lost. If that is the case, there is nothing you can do but delete the item from your inventory because there is no way to retrieve it.

They are consistently losing content in various asset server crashes and other stupidity. I have an increasing number of scripts and other assets which result in the same or similar messages.
If you get the message, try everything you can, including wait a few days between attempts to access the asset, and it still comes up, you can pretty much expect that the asset is toast and might as well delete it.
If it comes up every time you log in, likely it is some article of clothing, skin, attachment, etc that you are wearing.
