I have searched for an answer to this issue and recieved somwhat of an answer....but I wanted to know if there possibly was an easier way to do this. I would be very grateful for any and all replies.
I want to dissolve a group and still keep my items. Right now I have a group that I recently un-deeded the land to. I resold the parcel back to myself and now I am the sole owner again. The owners of the group are myself and one other person. I realize that I cant delete another owner, but since there are only 3 people assigned to this group, I can eject the one member and then leave the group myself which inturn will eventually delete the group in 48 hours.
My Question is; Since I have alot of items that are deeded to the group. (All of the other items have been returned to the other group members.) Is there anything other than going around to each and every item and re setting the group to none, that I can do to change them back to me? Is there possibly a way I can select all and re-set to no groups?
lol I promise, I will never co-own another group with anyone again! Ever!

As the group owner(or anyone with this abillity set in the group roles) I think you can "sell" the objects back to yourself. I've never tried it but I think that's how it works.

You can just go and "take" the items into your inventory, this will transfer them back to belonging to you. If you're talking about something like a building though, then it might be a PITA to take and rerez. The only other option is the one that Alisha mentioned, that is to set the object for sale at L$0 and as 'sell original' then you can buy it, and that leaves it inworld but transfers ownership to you. Be wary though, as there's no way to set it to be for sale only to you - if anyone else happens by they can buy it out from under you.

From: BRODEY Paule Is there possibly a way I can select all and re-set to no groups? Simply take your group-items that you originally owned into your inventory. That will undeed them.

I was hoping to avoid that, since I have a castle that comes in a load of linked peices, and i just finished the work around the lake. Oh well, was fun to build it, now I can do it again lol Thanx so much guy's for all your fast replies. I hope one day I can help you also.

If just set to group, you don't really have to do anything to keep the items because you're still the owner. You can drag a rectangle around the in the Editor and just set them to a different group en masse if you want.

*bump on Qie's question* If the items are indeed deeded: From: BRODEY Paule since I have a castle that comes in a load of linked peices then *bump on Alisha's for sale suggestion* If you need everything to stay exactly where it is then why not just set for sale, buy it and then make sure it's set to the new group? Additionally, for the next time around: why did you have a building deeded to a group? . Other than scripts that need parcel owner permission to work on group-deeded land there's little reason to deed anything to a group. Collaborative building works fine with "Share with group" and/or granting permission to another avie. (Also remember that if the items are deeded then the next owner permissions will go into effect regardless of how you "undeed" them from the group)

Make sure you re-assume ownership of the objects before you leave the group. Once you leave the group, you'll have little or no control of the objects except to return them IF they're on land that you own. Might not be a problem for an unscripted static build that you intend to leave in place. but scripted objects will fail if they're responsive to the owner only, and that's currently the group if they're deeded.
>>>If just set to group, you don't really have to do anything to keep the items because you're still the owner. You can drag a rectangle around the in the Editor and just set them to a different group en masse if you want.<<<
If the objects aren't actually deeded (just set to group), that's correct. If deeded, you can't set them to a different group unless you buy the objects back or take/return them to inventory.

Best bet is to sell the objects back to yourself, checking the "original" box, which will leave the object in-world, but just transfer ownership to you.
Assuming the parcel is still group owned, if you sell the parcel to yourself, with the "Include objects with sale" option checked, then group-deeded, transferrable objects should switch to being owned by you, and will remain in-place.
Absolutely, however, get ownership settled BEFORE you disband that group! You will not be able to recover control of group-deeded objects once your role as an officer in the group ceases to exist.

I've never tried taking to 'undeed'.
Next Owner Permissions is one thing that could cause the OP some grief is selling to themselves. I wonder if 'undeeding' might have the same gotcha built in??

Next Owner Permissions were already applied when he deeded them to the group.

Followup to above:
If the Next Owner Permissions are not set to allow copy/mod/etc *before* they are deeded to group, one can't take them back into Inventory ('undeed').
So it's the same potential gotcha as selling
