Two minor glitches

I'm running 1.19.1(4)
I've not done any updates or reinstalls with it lately but noticed two unusual things with it.

For some reason when I first boot up the software and log in (I usually clear my cache at the beginning of each session) I appear in the room floating just above the ground. This floating doesn't stop until I've sat down somewhere.
Oddly, this does not happen every single time, but more often than not. I am not flying at the time. Others can see me float, too, so it's not the viewer.
My home location is in the sky, but I've lived there for months and this just started a week or two ago.

Also, my minimap loads in the center of the screen, no matter how often I move it out of the way.

Any idea what might be causing this?

I've been experiencing the floating thing for weeks off and on. I'm so accustomed to it I hardly notice. However, it's funny you mention the mini-map. I always keep my mini map open, but every time I log in, it is closed now. this is, as you say, a recent develoment, which I find odd since I haven't done any updates.

A mini-map in the middle of the screen seems to indicate that its previous location wasn't being considered "valid" so it's being put at a default location. Like if you drag the Search window to one side, when you relog, it displays in the center of the screen again. I'm just wondering what could be causing this, as it would seem to be an issue with writing the current state of the mini-map back to the appropriate settings file before logoff.

You might try moving the minimap to your desired location, and then quitting SL immediately.

It sounds like your settings file isn't being saved.. possibly you're crashing out of SL each time. Set your window positions, log off, and then log back on. See if that fixes that.

Regarding the hover.. all avatar's "hover" while they're resolving (during the "ruth" period), on rez and teleport.. they stop flying as soon as they fully rez in. If you're wearing one or more flight assists, I've found that you can float upwards quite quickly and then slam down hard on the ground once you load in.

It sounds more like a situation of "falling" animation though, rather than of hovering. My guess is that you're standing on a weird prim (perhaps the edge of a sculpt). check to make sure you don't have any sort of "movelock" or "anti-push sheild" active.. these can exacerbate the "falling in place" problem.

When you next log in, and see this happen, check the buttons at the bottom of your screen to see if SL says you're "flying" or not.. if not, then you're probably actually "falling".. which is just the client being confused about where you're able to stand.

I'd suggest going through and setting a new "home" position.. perhaps you've changed your height, perhaps as I said, you're standing on a weird prim seam on the floor. Move a couple steps forward and set a new home. Check your anti-push dealies, and see if that's your issue.

I've been logging on to find my mini map and statistics bar closed almost everytime. I'm getting the floating thing too but its the one where I'm just above the floor in the falling motion with my arms and legs moving all around...I just fly up real quick and back down and I'm normal again.
