I went to a shop yesterday....12-19-07....and I bought a plaque that said.......And thou shalt call him Jesus.
I realized that I paid the money, but did not get the merchandise. I IMed the owner, and told her what had happened, but she was offline. I went back home and then SL went offline.
So far no answer from the owner. And off course, I can't remember the place. Sucks being old.........
Has anyone else seen this plaque anywhere else?
Thanks

From your account page here on the site you can view your transaction history. From there you should be able to see who you paid. In world, take a look at their profile and see if they have the store listed so you can track down the item from there. Good luck!

Check your objects folder.

Confusing to me was when I bought stuff it was always listed in my recent items folder. After I logged off it moved to my other folders.

Since yesterday I am sure it moved to your objects folder. You can also search your inventory at the top. Start typing Jesus in the empty box and it will turn up if you have it.

The SL Transactions page
https://secure-web22.secondlife.com/account/transactions.php
also usually shows you the Region name where the transaction originated.

In case you are not aware the "recent items" list defaults to "since login". (I'm not in SL so bear with me if I don't get the terminology exactly right.) That can be changed, in your inventory window under the "file" menu click "show filters" from that pop-up menu you can change the settings to show "recent items" based on a number of hours or days.

The owner will likely help you

Hi Patigee,
Most reputable retailers will check the transaction history and replace items lost by SL hiccups. I know that I do this, and can always tell when SL is in danger of shutdown because of the volume of customer IMs that happen prior! Give the creator time to respond to you unless you don't mind eating the Lindens and rebuying or whatever.

Best of luck!

Pattigee, as suggested if you don't remember who you bought it from, check your transactions on the site to see who you paid, then I suggest dropping them a note card as well as another IM also referencing that you sent a note card. Some times IMs get lost in the shuffle either because of IM caps or perhaps the owner mistakenly closed it without reading. It is always good to state the day of the purchase as well as they will likely look at their transaction records to ensure they are not being scammed.

Usually an owner will help you out with asset server hiccups.

All is good advice about dropping a notecard to the owner and checking your transaction. Remember though...yesterday was BAAAD on the grid. LL put out a warning about the asset servers malfunctioning and even shut the grid down for a while, so that may have been what happened to your purchase. Hopefully the seller will be able to make it good for you.

I saw one near the Vatican once. But it was in Italian.

Often times IMs get lost because the person you're trying to contact gets too many. In cases like this it's best to send both a notecard and an IM. Unfortunately, it's not unheard of for both notecards and IMs to both get lost. It's also possible that the shop owner hadn't logged in since you sent the IM. Send a notecard and give them a little time, and they should get back to you. If you don't get a response to your notecard after another day, try sending another. You can check to see if they are in any groups that you are also in. If so, you can use the group's member listing to see when they last logged in. Once you send a notecard, you should also get a message when they log in and accept or decline it.

Don't forget, being this close to xmas, RL festivities and holidays may keep the vendor offline for a while. Follow all the previous advice, but patience may be required.

Just in case .... To create a notecard, go to your inventory, Create, create new note, then search 'new note', open and type your message, then save. Search 'new note' again and rename (name it something that will catch the seller's eye). Then open the seller's profile and drag the note onto that.

Good luck.

I'm not running the latest client but some months back, one of the updates very kindly reset these filters to zero. There were more than one irate avatar who thought they'd lost new items. Since then, the show filters options have become a good friend for sorting inventory.
Been here a year, still stacks to learn.
