I have several items in my inv with the same name. Yesterday I wanted to rename one of them, but I didn't know which was which. So I rezzed the most recent, which was a no-copy item. It was the one I wanted. So I took it back, and found it had gone from being no-copy to no-copy/no-mod, and now I can't rename it! How did that happen? It was definitely mod before.

I swear I have seen things change like that also. Not sure what causes that.
Often times if an item has a no modify script inside of it, the object name while in inventory will indicate it is a no modify object, but if you rezz it in world, you will be able to modify the object itself, but not the script inside of its contents. _____________________

I am seeing this a lot too -- seems that items are resetting their permissions to the default (-mod -copy +trans) ones all by themselves, even in items that I have for SURE checked and rechecked the permissions on. I am not sure what the sequence of events is that causes it to happen, but if anyone knows, please say so here so I can avoid it.
It seems to have been happening the last couple of weeks. |

Maybe the perms weren't, what they call "baked"?
If you have perm debugging on, it probably would have shown an * until you rezzed it. Perms for objects should always be set inworld rather than in inventory. If done in inventory, they aren't set yet. So you have to rez it and take it back or get confused... ![]() I always keep debug perms on so I can see better what's going on. Also, in inventory the most restrictive perms are shown. Something can appear to be no mod, but when rezzed you find a script or content item is no mod, but you can edit the object itself despite that. Most of my scripted items are that way, so purchasers can change the item but not break the function. ![]() _____________________
