I find myself wanting to stream live video from a webcam in to SL. I have scoured the internet for advice on how to do it. Many old suggestions such as using Veodia no longer work. I have access to a dedicated Linux server and can install Darwin Streaming Server (DSS) but my desktop is a Windows machine. The only client software I have been able to find that will convert vieo to H.263 format is Wirecast but it comes with a $500 price tag. I've found a limited number of stream hosters/relays but either they a) don't list pricing and have not gotten back to me when I contacted them b) are really expensive c) except you to use QuickTime Broadcaster which is Mac only.

Does anyone have experience with this that can offer a working solution for either:
1) Windows desktop software to reliable relay with an RTSP url that can be accessed
2) Windows desktop software to DSS

Thank in advance. Please don't reply with your opinions about RL in SL or anything other than providing helpful information about the topic.

I was actually going to make a thread asking about this too. Good thing I searched!

I'm trying to stream my webcam onto a canvas and easel in Second Life so that people can watch me paint.. but I'm having the same troubles that the main poster is having. Broken links/not on a mac/etc.

Help! :p
