The Second Life website is broken so often Errors, drops in connection, weird & slow loading. it boggles the mind. I mean sure Second Life is a pretty intensive app Server and Client side, but a website is proven technology(!). This is very concerning.
Not only are the forums copping out when I try and post. took me 15minutes to post a classified ad in the forums. but the main website itself is suffering from these issues. I know this is not my connection. I get great ping and bandwidth while using the other sometimes very broken technology that Linden lab has created.
This is a rant. I can understand things being out of whack for a few days, but this is just silly. It becomes comical with some Monty Python music.
I actually do have a real question. When do you think Linden Lab will get the website working and join the other millions of websites without issues?
Number of tries posting this: 7 [One Double Post, or a preventive measure to keep this rant from getting out]

I've managed to avoid most of the problem folks have been having with the forums lately, but today I am having a bit of a sluggish response. For example it took maybe 5 to 10 seconds from clicking the reply button before the edit reply screen appeared.
One thing that has helped some people with SL website problems (specifically accessing the blog) is clear the cookies.
You might also try a different browser.
As to when LL will get it's act together about the website? Who knows? 5 years from now?

From: Somatika Xiao Great suggestions. I currently use Google Chrome for browsing, never had problems with other websites though. Same issues here using Maxthon2. Major delays in page processing and sometimes it takes 3 or more clicks on a link to get the page to load. I remember back when the forums weren't open to everyone, and I don't recall them acting up like they do now. None of our VB gaming forums act up like this. Kind of makes me wonder.. by opening the forums up to all Sl accounts, that would mean active forum accounts numbering the total number of SL accounts ever created, and every bot would be in there as well. I know VB forums query the database to check permissions on most link clicks (to see if you're allowed to view/post/edit/moderate). If that DB is having to struggle through a DB file that big, no wonder the damn thing is like molasses in winter.

I think it's the web. I'm getting deterioration on some other sites as well as this one. Other people I know, who don't do SL as far as I know, say their internet is getting worse and worse too.

Looking at the forum member list, which is at http://forums.secondlife.com/memberlist.php?, I see 61,607 pages reported, most all of which will have 30 members per page, suggesting that there are roughly 1,848,210 forum members.

It should be the same as SL itself. They both work of of the same users database (well, each has it's own copy)

From: Dante Tucker It should be the same as SL itself. They both work of of the same users database (well, each has it's own copy) I just reported the number of pages shown in the current memberlist, counted the number of members on a page, and multiplied. Is there some reason to think the forum member database actually matches the inworld member database? I just used the forum member search at http://forums.secondlife.com/memberlist.php?do=search and set the number of results per page to one hundred and let it return all members, and it showed 18487 pages of one hundred each, which is roughly 1,848,700 members. Some part of the forum software thinks there are 1,848,700, or else it's as screwed up as the rest of SL. How do you do an inworld search for "A Tester"? People search won't let you search for one letter first names. We ought to be able to search for first and last names independently of each other.

LL's idea of a search engine sucks... but that's a whole other thread.
I've noticed a bit of slowing down, the occasional "was interrupted" and such, until late yesterday. Not getting the "was interrupted" but still a bit slow.
I'm using Firefox.
