Hi all,
I chatted with someone in SL yesterday evening and I'd really like to reread the chat because one or two points escaped me at the time and I'd like to refresh my memory  Is there a location on my computer where SL saves chat logs so I can find it and read offline or do I have to log in to SL and read the chatlog from there? Elfrida, I am not sure if it's automatically turned on in your preferences, but if so, you should be able to find it in
C:\Documents and Settings\username (of computer)\Application Data\SecondLife (that's where it showed up for me, anyway...) |

Not unless you have the log chat option on already. If it's not on, the chats are gone for good. You could turn it on and leave it on though, in case it happens again.

You have to set it to log chat & IMs. When you're in-world, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Communication and make sure the "Log IMs" and "Log chat" boxes are checked. You can also specify where you want the logs to be saved on your computer.

I don't think that the folder exists until you've turned the option on, and used it.

FWIW, it seems the new RC (1.20 RC2) turns on IM logging by default, but not Chat logging. (As already described, this all can be changed in Edit / Preferences / Communication settings. It seems that the newest RC remembers those settings now, which was a Big Problem with RC0.)

I'd like a viewer which has chat logs turned on and no way to turn them off.
If I had ever gotten around to compiling a viewer I'd make one myself. _____________________
