I have a public dock and would like to have people be able to get a free (the Tako for example) or rent for a period a sailboat to take off from the dock. Prefer free but rent is a viable option. As well would be happy to place a vendor for sales on sailboats at the dock.
Anyone that might be able to help please IM me in world.

Perhaps you should check the "Advice on sales" thread . . .

One approach would be to contact the sailboat vendors, and see if you can cut some sort of deal with them.
The realistic sailboats have clever scripts to make them run well.
On the other hand, a crappy sailboat script would be fairly simple to write. For example, if it goes the direction the user points at a fixed speed, heels over a little, and the sail switches sides, it might give the illusion of sailing well enough to satisfy a short term rental.

lol - I was just about to mention that Just be advised - it isn't really 'sailing', you don't need to know about wind and sail rigging and all that jazz. Just steer, really. Good for people who want to look like their sailing without needing to know how to sail. You don't need a hud or learn complicated stuff either. OTOH if you want a real sailing experience, the Tako is a better option I think. -Atashi p.s. if you want to try it out inworld there's a rezzer set up at the north-east end of the Waikiti region, check my profile picks for a link.

Ooh, I had another idea...
At Trudeau Yachts, they have a demo you can take out for a sail. You could ask them if they would sell you something similar, with whatever perms you'd need so that visitors could sail it, and then buy a couple for your dock.

I have a boat from Black Spot, the "Spray". There's a "Sim Manager Version". Anyone can drive it and when it leaves it's mooring a replacement rezzes... you set how many can be rezzed at any one time and how long it stays rezzed.
Black Spot 143,178,23
Although used on a sim I own, I don't think it's neccessary.. but don't quote me.

Thanks for the replies .. and Ee thanks for the LM in-world.
I have been sailing the Tako for about 3 months now, realize its not quite like RL sailing, but close and good for SL. Reson I asked here was that I got my copy of the Tako from a Free ox in the ocean by the SLRR Drilling platform .. and was hoping to find a place where I could get a similar free vendor for the Tako. Not trying to make money .. just want to be able to allow other residents to set sale from my dock and explore SL.
