Since upgrading to version 1.19.1.4, I have had problems with sound. I enjoy the live music scene in SL, but now I can barely hear live music streams. This problems*sometimes* exists at some dance clubs. Another weird thing is that at a club the music will be OK, but the deejay's voice can barely be heard--and isn't the deejay and the music on the same stream? Anyway, the live music shows are kinda like the deejay between songs, very faint. BTW, sound goes out of the PC to an old-fasioned 130 wpc stereo integrated amplifier, driving a very nice pair of minimonitors and two powered subwoofers. Before the upgrade live music was sensational (well the better musicians, some aren't so good). I am perplexed because other people in the sim seem to be hearing things OK. Any ideas?

The puzzling thing here is "at a club the music will be OK, but the deejay's voice can barely be heard" because, quite right: they're over the same stream. It really has to be the DJ's choice of how s/he's mixing the mic with the music--there's just nothing that can be done on the viewer to make that different.
Unless, just maybe, somebody is actually using Voice for this, instead of parcel audio. It's possible to do that... and I guess some live music might be over voice (though, without more sophisticated voice channel management, this seems pretty unworkable), but if that were the case, the sound would be spatially localized at the musician's avatar and... well, it would be obviously voice, not parcel audio.
Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd suggest playing with the individual sound controls in the viewer (pops up from the main sound level control on the bottom of the screen now), to make sure the parcel music is set high enough, compared to all the other sound effects, etc.
(Oh, one even less likely possibility would be if the live music were using parcel media instead of parcel audio. This is technically possible, but I don't know of anybody doing it. Again, though, that would be apparent by adjusting the individual sound controls.)

I've regularly found that one of my favorite in-world performer's voice is much quieter when talking between songs than when actually singing. This was prior to the latest updates, too. I also sometimes found the same thing with DJ's at clubs, but not always.
Since it is all the same stream, it just could be that a live performer is just talking more quietly than singing and that a DJ has the voice portion of their stream mixed lower than the music portion. Typically, the voiceover and music are on the same stream. However, if either is streaming music, but using the in-world voice chat to talk in between, that could make a difference.

It is so perplexing. I hate to think I'm the only one experiencing this problem. I have checked the sliders, and moved voice to max. No improvement. I have cleared cache just in case. Maybe uninstall SL and reinstall?

I have downloaded the onrez veiwer, and will see if the same problem continues. If it persists, I will swap out stereo gear. Any other suggestions maybe settings in pref?
