Land Sale Dialog, Parcel Editing Changes?

I just set some land for sale today and noticed a very different alert box came up -- it was the same bright yellow they use for debit permissions, and it read:
From: someone
ATTENTION: Clicking 'sell to anyone' makes your land available to the entire Second Life community, even to those not in this region.
The selected ##### m2 land is being set for sale. Your selling price will be L$##### and will be authorized for sale to Anyone.

So it seems LL has taken a lot of the suggestions made here recently, and acted on them.

Now my question -- directed primarily to estate owners -- Have they changed something in what we can / can't do with estate editing? I am almost positive that I used to be able to join and subdivide my resident's parcels, regardless of the settings in the estate menu. I am almost positive I have done this in the past for them, and without reclaiming land.

Today I tried to do it again, and found that I was unable to. I could have reclaimed the land and done it ,then sold it back again, but I seem to remember being able to do this in the past without having to reclaim?

Am I remembering things wrong, or has that changed?

I've only had islands since Nov of 2006, and I know i've never been able to join someone else's parcels. Further back than that, I don't know.

Thanks Darien,

I must be remembering it wrong. Maybe I did reclaim, join, then transfer it back to them, when I did this last.

Bright yellow isn't going to change anything. Nice try, though.

At least it's not green and pink ;)

To be honest, it caught my attention. I can't say whether or not it saved me a hassle though -- I usually doublecheck everything anyways, but the bright yellow certainly makes the text stand out better than it did on the dull grey.

BTW I experienced a strange incident with a recent trip through the land sale thing. I put a parcel for sale at L$32500 and when I got to that last warning box, the price had changed to L$500. Like maybe the '32' didn't register or didn't come through or something. My guess is that a brief moment of lag or something prevented the '32' from getting through, but the '500' did.

I think it's a great feature. At the very least, it makes the seller 100% responsible now for his transaction. After seeing that, if you still set your land to "anyone" when intending it for someone specific, then you have no room to complain.
