I am using the 1.18.5 (3) viewer and every time i put on a long flexi skirt it looks like the image below, see through. Is this possibly just something with my graphics settings. I haven't seen anyone around to ask them if they see my skirt the same way.

It's a problem with alpha transparency sorting - whenever you have prims with any level of transparency in them in front of each other, the program doesn't always know how to handle drawing them. This is common to many 3d applications.

Lea as just shown me her skirt and I see the problem too. Unlikely to be graphics settings.
It is wierd... the skirt looks fine from one angle, but when you look from another direction, the skirt looks almost concave. With the legs being very obvious. it is even worse in the noon light. Real shame too, its a nice skirt... _____________________

i also checked that each panel of the skirt the transparency is set at 0 so it must be the texture the designer used.

The texture itself has some measure of transparency in this case. But if either the texture or the prim has some transparency in it, it will be problematic in sorting out which one is drawn first.

Thank you, Alicia! My neighbor has lovely trees, but they used to poke through my walls. Now I know why. Of course, the house is at 400m altitude by now, but it's good to know this is an SL bug, not the result of being on a sim border. Gonna plant my (ground level) garden now. |

Is it by any chance Windlight related?
One of my shop tenants ( I won't mention who it is *grin*) was redecorating her shop, and I happened to be near. To my surprise I was looking at her in a thong! So I made her a snapshot to show how her (cute) outfit was looking in my client. Her own client showed no problems, so I suppose it is Windlight. Seems related to the hidden appendages that show up as well... Greetings Marcel _____________________

Normal skirts go all funky wierd, and prim skirts go sort of transparent. I wore one of my fave non-prim dresses, and it looked like I was only wearing the front half of it, with the imprint of the appearance window in it lol. I didn't think it was a good look, and it went wierder because it threw a similar image out for others in the room, even those who weren't using the same viewer. But I don't think this is the same as Lea's problem. neither of us were on Windlight when I saw her skirt. _____________________

I agree this is a common problem and not just in windlight. My sky platform is surrounded by a mesh safety fence (alpha) and my hair sometimes goes semi-transparent against it.
