Why is it saying "the server is full?"

I've been trying to build on one of my islands for the past few days and about half the time I try to drag-copy a prim, it just moves the prim and I get the message: "Copy failed because the server is full." Sometimes I have to re-try 3 or 4 times before I can copy the prim. There are 600 prims free in the sim/parcel (it's a single-parcel sim), so it shouldn't be full. There are no temp-on-rez objects anywhere that I know of, although there are several particle generators (leaves and sparklies). Do particles count against prims?
If not, what the heck is going on?
Thanks.

That seems weird, could be that the end result of the copy is larger than 600 prims, if thats not the case. You should contact concierge

I had this message the other day when trying to copy drag one prim. I tried again and that time it was successful, so I didn't think much more about it. I'd be interested to know more about it, too.
I've also noticed that sometimes copy drag sometimes creates 'dead' prims: prims that have mod/copy perms disabled. Very odd.

I had the same on one of my islands a while back - yet there were still 650 or so prims available. An SL glitch I guess.
Whoa! Do we *have* those???? (j/k!!) Inc

Yes, well every time this happened I was only copying a single prim. I restarted the sim to see if that would help. I haven't seen the problem since, but I've only tried copying a couple prims since the restart.

A sim restart did not fix the issue, unfortunately. I'm going to contact concierge about it.

Angel she said entire sim, as the sim is a single parcel I hope she posts back here so we can see what the problem was for future reference

If it ever happens again, take a look at "Object Count" under View / Statistics Bar and then under the Simulator portion. That's the actual number of prims that are rezzed on the sim. If it says 15,000 then the sim is full, regardless of what "About Land" says and you'll have to figure out where the extra prims are. If the number fluctuates even though you're not rezzing any prims yourself, you have a prim rezzer somewhere on the sim you don't know about. If the number is under 15,000 and it's failing it would probably be best to contact concierge so that someone can come have a look at the sim in case you're running into a bug. They can probably snapshot the sim and restore a copy of it on a development grid to figure out what's going wrong, so it shouldn't inconvenience you too much .

Something weird was definitely going on. Even though the Objects tab was saying there were 600 prims available to me (the top stat in Objects is sim-wide, not just parcel-wide). I did not think to compare this with the "Object Count" number in the stats bar, Kitty, that's a good tip.
Anyway, a Linden came out and from her records she found the sim had 15015 prims, and that over 500 of them were temporary! Her tools only enabled her to see how many temp prims were on the land, but couldn't highlight them or pinpoint their locations.
This is when I discovered something odd in the Objects tab of About land. Even though the island has been deeded in my group's name since the start, and non-group building is disabled, there were 200 objects currently in the sim listed as 'owned by others.' I flew all over using the Show option and discovered that there were all temp on rez prims! (A bonfire of mine appears to generate temp-on-rez fire, and I'd forgotten about a rezzer I'd placed in an ancient ruins on the island that rezzes up to three 69-prim ghouls to frighten visitors.)
So I DID have some temp prims on my land, and they showed up as 'owned by others' in About Land even though they were rezzed by objects that I owned. However this only accounted for 200 prims- there were, according to our Linden helper, another 300 temp prims unaccounted for, and I had several people flying around the island for 20 minutes, and none of us found anything. I ended up sending back some furniture in an unused area of the island and was able to build again.
Anyway my problem is more or less fixed, although I might be short 300 prims now due to a hidden temp-rezzer.

This happens when the server has eaten all the inventory it can hold, and doesn't want dessert.
