Some of my groups in my profile, even groups that I created, and are marked as: show in groups list, wont show up for people (even members of same group) when they check my profile.
For all other people in the same group, the group DOES show when I check their profile. But for people in the SAME groups as me, my groups simple dont show.
I created a group for my club and for my staff and to them it's like I'm not even a member of my own groups! Anyone have any idea how come?

I'm just guessing here, but maybe it only shows up because you're in the same group. Try to find someone who's not in the group, then have them check to see if it shows up for them.

if the group was created as "hidden", it can only be seen by members. whether in search or in your profile.

so check the group status. it can be changed i assume.

The groups are marked: Show in group list, and also marked: Publish on the web.
Everyone in the groups are showing when you check their profile... mine is the only one that seems to be hiding, even for members in the same group! *pulls hair out*

I created a new group just for the heck of it. This group shows up in my profile right away. Just most others still dont show, even on same settings as new group.

Try creating an object while wearing one of the missing group's tag. Open the Edit window for the newly made prim and check which group shows under Group.
If it displays (???), then the problem is probably communication with the data server.

A friend and I are also seeing this. I IMed val who said he used an alt to shift ownership of the group and to add himself back and that seemed to fix. Haven't tried yet, but if anyone has any information please post. You may also want to check your groups you have created--especially if you have several groups. You need someone else to confirm each appears in your profile because to you everything will seem OK.

Yes it's fixed now and it's obviously a technical bug.
I contacted SL inworld support center and they had no idea either and told me to report it as a bug. Of course I didnt expect much to come out of that, so I kept trying other things.
I made my alt co owner of my groups, then left my groups completely, and after that, invited myself in again (after which my groups finally showed up to the other members) and had my alt make me owner again.
On a side note, its kinda scary though since I have 400 members and about 16000m2 land and I was thinking what of for some reason my alt doesnt function as owner. Anyways make sure not to take too long to tranfer yourself back as owner, because your land contributions will go to 0 when you leave your group.

For what it's worth, each role also has an option as to whether they show up in the group membership list to non-members. Check the settings in the roles you belong to.

Owner role is always checked by default.
If anyone has the same problem when even his/her own group members can't see the group in the owner's profile, try what I did.

It has :).

Go to the group window and uncheck "List Group in Profile".

It's somewhat bugged (or some may think it's a feature I guess) in that it will also remove the group from your profile if someone is actually in that group as well. So the group member list is the only way to check is someone is a member of a group or not.

Wouldn't that be nice, but there is no such automagical button on my groups window, or in the group info page, or in roles or abilities for any group I have complete access to

Sooooo.... either you are:
A) Messing with us (heh, funny)
or
B) It's a option on the new client (which I'm not using)

I'd just laugh but the timing with the new client got me wondering =)

oh and to the OP, "show in groups list" controls whether it's found in search groups, not profiles, which is why it's a power that 'everyone' can't set

Thank you, Oryx, for pointing me in the right direction for this. I voted for it. If Kitty is correct, and it's been fixed, I sure don't see the button. Like Void said, I haven't downloaded the newest version yet either. Still need to see more guinea pigging out there before I'll use it.

Well he and I were partners in the same group. I noticed today that he isnt showing up in there. Then checked all the others we are in and nada.

A regular search under people and nothing there as well. Got a friend to check and he didnt come up for her either.

Its just a bit weird.

I did have this happen to me once... just after I'd created a group... didn't show up for a day or so, then poof there it was... personally I was happy it wasn't showing up... one less group for some nut to see in my profile, and join so they could tell if I was really online =/

Why would I lie about a feature?

I'm at least three or four viewers out of date on my main :p, but I noticed it on my alt with the last release candidate.

You probably only need to download that one (RC has its own settings so it wouldn't change anything), install it in a different folder, log on, change the setting, log off, delete the RC and continue with an older viewer you're comfy with since the actual feature is on the server, you only need the viewer to toggle it :).

That's normal behaviour for a suspended/banned/deleted account though.

No matter how long an account has been banned/deleted they'll always show that they belong to the groups they did at the time their account was suspended, even though their actual group membership ended at the time of suspension.

That's interesting. I doubt that he would have done anything to get himself suspended though. My other neighbour bought 1000US of stolen currency into the game and it was confiscated but he wasn't banned.

I have interesting neighbours lol.

You can cancel your account (7 days I think before inventory gets cleared, but then you can always ask to have it reinstated again at any later time) or after 7-30 days (used to be 30 but seems some people get suspsended after a week already these days) of non-payment LL will suspend your account as well.

There's a very tiny chance they'll confirm that an account was cancelled or suspended for non-payment but in most cases they'll simply state that they can't due to privacy concerns.

Wouldnt a premium account just convert back to a free account?

Too tired and lazy to look up the little details :p, but after a set number of days of non-payment LL will reposses any land owned by the resident and put it up for US$ auction. The proceeds from that are then used to pay off the outstanding debt along with a $100 fee (or the remainder of the proceeds if less than $100). Whatever, if anything, is left is credited to the US$ balance.
(That's the theory in the payment agreement anyway, I doubt we'd hear from anyone who's ever actually gone through that process)

If even more time passes (3 months I think?) LL will (or used to) delete the inventory of a lapsed premium account and any L$ go into the Misc economic sink as well.

After all that you might be back to a free basic account again, but I think you'd still have to pay the $9.95 reinstatement fee to get your account activated again.

(If you were a premium account and you didn't own land, but you never cancelled your premium you'd simply get billed next month/year/quarter, slip into non-payment and then further slip into having your account cleared with the debt still outstanding most likely, but that's more of a personal guess)

Probably should be in its own thread :).

thanks I'll do that, I can live a single logon w/o the nicholaz viewer... I think =)

I wonder if it's a group control option now too, that'd be nice, set the default for a group you control. I'd rather set it to off for our product update group, why spam someones profile with something so minor, and detract from their main interests... if we're that special we'll get a pick =)
