It looks like IBM's Lotus division is competing in the PG business-oriented grid space (presumably on OpenSim).

Sametime offers links to both OpenSim and Second Life spaces.

Looks like they are using the LL-licended "Second Life Benind-your-firewall" corporate product for this.

LL? See this? It is all your Corp and Business and Education customers leaving, for a secured environmet.

That isn't quite accurate. The SameTime 3D product is based on OpenSim.

I disagree. SameTime regards 3D as just another form of streaming media, like audio and video. Their 3D plugin accommodates OpenSim, Second Life, and Forterra's Olive (the 3D platform of choice for military and other highly secure, cost-insensitive clients).

One would expect other corporate-oriented platforms, such as ProtoSphere and Qwaq, to be added as well.

Yes, it may accommodate it, but as of today's announcement, it only has one 3D environment - that being the OpenSim implementation.

I do not know where you are getting your information, but if you look at IBM's press release from today cited above (http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/27831.wss), it does not mention ANY one platform -- no mention of Open Sim or SL or Olive. But, the YouTube video embedded in the press release is plainly filmed entirely in SL.

Not really, that was the sells pitch that I got from a IBM sales rep when they where selling PS/2 running OS2. We know how that went.
